After the first episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premiered just one week ago, fans are already hooked and waiting to find out what the next chapter of this story will bring on Disney+. Continuing the legacy of Captain America through Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, the MCU's second Disney+ series is already a hit as Marvel Studios brought the most-watched premiere episode in the streaming platform's history.
"Episode 1" provided fans with much-needed backstories for both Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan's leading men as they began tackling a world fully affected by The Blip. This happened largely through two separate plot lines, however, seeing as Sam and Bucky didn't interact with each other through the episode's 50-minute runtime.
Thankfully, that appears to be changing in the near future.
SAM AND BUCKY MEET AGAIN
The latest spot for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier from Marvel's YouTube channel features Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes meeting for the first time in the Disney+ series.
Bucky shows his frustration with Sam by saying "you shouldn't have given up the shield," while Sam simply admits back to him "good to see you too, Buck. I have bigger things to worry about."
Later in the spot, Bucky forcefully tells Sam "I'm coming with you," but Sam seems firmly against the idea. That tone seems to change in the middle, however, with both of them combining to express "If we do this, we're gonna do it our own way."
Also, noteworthy in this clip is Danny Ramirez's Joaquin Torres following Sam down the stairs. The full 30-second spot can be seen below:
NOT A HAPPY REUNION
Fans have wondered for the past week what the sentiment would be between Sam and Bucky when they meet for the first time in Phase 4. Clearly, the events of "Episode 1" left them both in a pretty miserable state of mind.
While it's still unclear what their relationship has been like since the end of Avengers: Endgame, both heroes feel the severity of the moment after seeing Captain America's shield given to Wyatt Russell's John Walker/U.S. Agent. The prevailing theory is that this event will bring them together again, possibly in tonight's "Episode 2," although they have plenty more than the pretentious replacement Cap to worry about.
The Flag Smashers are beginning to wreak havoc all over the world, as proven by Lieutenant Torres in Switzerland, while Bucky continues to make amends for his days as the Winter Soldier. There is also the imminent arrival for Helmut Zemo to keep in mind, which will surely bring some emotional baggage due to both of their histories with the former Sokovian intelligence operative.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will continue when "Episode 2" premieres on Disney+ on March 26, 2021.
