Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock is a highly passionate actor. Having been involved in many projects and even being the highest-paid actor of 2020 , he is a known persona around the world. One of the things that Johnson has been a strong advocate for is bringing the character of Black Adam to life.
The first time that Johnson ever mentioned being Black Adam was all the way back in 2007 on November 26. Now, fourteen years later, Black Adam is finally a thing— in fact, it just entered production . It is literally a film that has been decades in the making.
The cast has been filling out quite nicely as well, with names such as Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate and Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher . One of the biggest castings of the film easily goes to Hawkman , one of the founding members of the Justice Society of America. In fact, the person bringing him to life, Aldis Hodge, has just started his work on the film.
HAWKMAN HAS ENTERED THE BUILDING
Aldis Hodge posted on his Instagram a picture of his trailer door from the set of Black Adam , marking Hodge's first day on set for the upcoming DC Comics film.
Hodge shared his excitement for his first day on set in the photo's caption:
Day 1. Hawkman is in da building. Let’s goooo!!! #blackadam ⚡️ ⚡️⚡️

BLACK ADAM VS. HAWKMAN
With the show finally getting on the road, fans are one step closer to seeing Black Adam and Hawkman clash on the big screen—or even better, Dwayne Johnson vs. the entire Justice Society of America. It will no doubt be one hell of a showdown.
While Black Adam derives his power from the same sources as Shazam, curiously, Black Adam shows no sign of involving Zachary Levi's lovable hero. Though, it is worth noting that both Black Adam and Shazam!: Fury of the Gods will be filming at the same time at some point this summer in Atlanta. So, the potential for a crossover of some sort — even if just an after-credits scene — is certainly there.
One can only imagine that with the success of Shazam! , a crossover between the two films is certainly the endgame. However, does that mean that fans could see Black Adam 's Justice Society of America team up with Billy Batson? Or, will Hawkman and his teammates exist decades before Billy ever gets his powers? Only time will tell.
Black Adam is set to premiere in theaters on July 29, 2022.
