Disney+ Will Release Its 6th Marvel Trilogy This Week (Confirmed)

Disney+ will bring yet another Marvel movie trilogy to the small screen this week. Disney+ is known to be the main hub for all things Marvel, hosting every major Marvel Television-produced show released in the Multiverse Saga and every movie made since the franchise started in 2008. However, the MCU is far from the only Marvel saga fans can find on this streaming platform.

Disney+ confirmed that Venom: The Last Dance will begin streaming on Disney+ on Tuesday, August 25. This gives the Sony Pictures-produced threequel a massive 670-day gap between its initial theatrical release (October 25, 2024) and its Disney+ streaming release.

Venom: The Last Dance's release on Disney+ gives the streamer its sixth major Marvel trilogy to stream with a subscription. This includes Tom Hardy's original Venom movie, released in 2018, and its 2021 sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Below are five other Marvel trilogies available to view on Disney+:

Iron Man

Marvel launched the MCU with the release of Iron Man in 2008, which became a massive critical and financial success. Starring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark next to Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Jeff Bridges (Obidiah Stane), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), and Terrance Howard (Colonel James Rhodes), this film made the genius/billionaire/playboy/philanthropist an A-list hero and started his run as the face of the Infinity Saga.

Director Jon Favreau led the way on this movie and its 2010 sequel, Iron Man 2, and Shane Black took over those duties on 2013's Iron Man 3 and completed the MCU's first-ever trilogy. Downey played Tony Stark in 11 movies across the entire MCU, and he is set to return to the franchise as Doctor Doom for Avengers: Doomsday.

Guardians of the Galaxy

During Phase 2 in 2014, James Gunn shocked the world with the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, the MCU's 10th movie. Led by Chris Pratt's Star-Lord, this movie brought together a wild team of misfits and had them take down the Kree warlord Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace). The film became a cultural phenomenon, making Gunn one of the most recognizable directors in the business.

2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 delivered another thrilling fight against Kurt Russell's Ego the Living Planet, and the trilogy concluded with an emotional encounter with Chukwudi Iwuji's High Evolutionary in 2023's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This team's return is up in the air, as Gunn moved on to be the co-CEO of DC Studios after finishing this trio of films.

Ant-Man

Marvel Studios closed out the MCU's Phase 2 in 2015 with the release of Ant-Man, directed by Peyton Reed. Starring Paul Rudd as the titular Scott Lang and including Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne) and Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), this movie introduced Pym's shrinking technology and the Ant-Man suit in a heist-centric plot, as the main trio took down Corey Stoll's Darren Cross.

The story continued in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp in Phase 3 and concluded in 2023 with a massive battle in the Quantum Realm against Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Rudd will return as Scott Lang in Avengers: Doomsday (as is Kathryn Newton's Cassie Lang), but a fourth Ant-Man movie is still a question mark.

Deadpool

Deadpool sits in an interesting place in MCU lore, as he was originally developed as part of 20th Century Fox's X-Men saga with his own 2016 solo movie. Bringing Ryan Reynolds in as Wade Wilson, the first R-rated movie showed his origin story, activating his mutant genes and showing his evolution into a fourth-wall-breaking, katana-wielding, unkillable killing machine.

Reynolds returned in 2018 for Deadpool 2, and he made his long-awaited MCU debut next to Hugh Jackman in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine. While no specific plans are in place for his return to the MCU, rumors note a role for him in Doomsday, and he is already hard at work on a fourth solo Deadpool movie.

Wolverine

As part of Fox's X-Men Saga, Hugh Jackman got the chance to star in his own 2009 solo spin-off movie, X-Men: Origins Wolverine. This movie began with James "Logan" Howlett as a child in the 1800s and followed his evolution into a hero, later receiving his adamantium skeleton and claws and confronting the Weapon X program that created him.

2013 brought Jackman a second solo movie, The Wolverine, and he stole the show again in 2017 with Logan, which is regarded as one of the greatest superhero movies in history. Jackman teamed up with Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine, and he may end up returning in one or both of the next two Avengers movies as well.

BONUS: Thor

In 2011, Marvel Studios brought its fourth solo movie to the big screen in Thor, directed by Kenneth Branagh. Starring iconic duo Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Tom Hiddleston as Loki (along with Natalie Portman's Jane Foster), this movie showed Thor losing his powers and being banished to Earth, forcing him to learn how to be a good man before regaining his status as a hero for Asgard.

The MCU continued this story in 2013's Thor: The Dark World before completing the God of Thunder's trilogy in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok. Thor is also one of the rare MCU characters to get a quadrilogy, as Hemsworth starred in the critically panned Thor: Love and Thunder. He will return in 2026 for Avengers: Doomsday.

BONUS: Captain America

Following Thor, Chris Evans' Steve Rogers got his first MCU solo movie in 2011 with the release of Captain America: The First Avenger, the franchise's fifth movie. Also starring Hayley Atwell (Peggy Carter), Tommy Lee Jones (Colonel Phillips), and Hugo Weaving (Red Skull), this movie showed the experiment that gave Steve Rogers his super physique before he became Captain America and went into battle with the Germans.

Three years later, directors Joe and Anthony Russo joined Marvel Studios to deliver Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, and they returned to direct 2016's Captain America: Civil War. After Steve passed the mantle to Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson, the latter got his own solo movie in 2025 (Captain America: Brave New World), giving the it its fourth solo story.

BONUS: Avengers

Phase 1 ended with a bang upon the release of The Avengers in 2012, directed and written by Joss Whedon. Bringing together the six main heroes from the previous five Phase 1 films, this story assembled the titular team to take down Tom Hiddleston's Loki and his invasion of Earth with the Chitauri.

2015 brought this movie's sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and a double-dose of sequels came in 2018 and 2019 with the releases of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Now a quadrilogy, Marvel Studios will bring its biggest Avengers movie yet this year, with Avengers: Doomsday releasing in December.

BONUS: X-Men

In 2000, 20th Century Fox helped usher in a new era of superhero movies with the release of X-Men, directed by Bryan Singer. Featuring Sir Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Sir Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), and Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), this movie highlighted the classic team of mutants in a modern setting as they tried to stop Magneto from turning the world's leaders into mutants.

This franchise quickly became a trilogy, with X2 released in 2003 and X-Men: The Last Stand completing the original story in 2006. The saga reached new heights in the next decade, with four new movies expanding the narrative: X-Men: First Class (2011), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016), and Dark Phoenix (2019).
