News has been pretty quiet from Diego Luna's upcoming Star Wars series, starring Cassian Andor and his droid partner, K-2SO. Currently still expected to release in 2021, this series will have a similar visual language as Gareth Edwards's Rogue One. There's also no telling who or what else could show up according to Neal Scanlan, the creature effects supervisor for the Cassian Andor series and every Disney Star Wars film.

Adria Arjona will also be starring alongside Luna as an undisclosed character. Still, they won't be alone as Denise Gough, Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgard, and Kyle Soller will also star in this series. The series may have had to replace a director, but that hasn't stop Lucasfilm as filming for the series has finally begun...

NEWS

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Diego Luna confirmed that he was currently in London filming the untitled Cassian Andor series on Disney+.

WHAT THIS MEANS

It's actually hard to remember that The Mandalorian and the Obi-Wan Kenobi series aren't going to be the only Star Wars series produced on Disney's streaming service, as the Cassian Andor series was also announced to be in development as far back 2018 when Bob Iger officially announced the series during a Disney quarterly earnings call.

So, it isn't only Marvel Studios that are ramping up production on multiple shows simultaneously. Lucasfilm is doing it, too, although minus the simultaneous part.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series, according to Ewan McGregor, will begin shooting in March of next year. Thus, it seems likely that as soon Diego Luna's Star Wars series has finished shooting in London, they'll move on to filming with Ewan McGregor. Although, reportedly, a spin-off starring Boba Fett and Temuera Morrison has apparently already begun production, according to Deadline.

It seems like Lucasfilm hasn't quite streamlined the production of its shows as well as Marvel Studios, but it's getting there, at least, with its corner of the Star Wars universe tied to The Mandalorian.

The untitled Cassian Andor series plans to release on Disney+ in 2021.
