Warner Bros. and DC Comics have themselves a very full slate this year. On top of their extremely popular HBO Max show Peacemaker, which spun out of the events of The Suicide Squad, the studio has some massive films slated for 2022. There's Robert Pattinson's The Batman, Ezra Miller's The Flash, and Jason Momoa's Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom all coming in the ensuing months.
Of course, there's also Black Adam. The film has been a dream project of Dwayne Johnson's for over a decade now. The success of Zachary Levi's Shazam! paved the way for the project to finally come to fruition, and now the leader of Kahndaq is here.
He won't be alone, however. His movie is also set to introduce the Justice Society of America, which will include members such as Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom-Smasher.
Thanks to a new sizzle reel, fans have brand-new looks at all of them, including Aldis Hodge's big-time flying hero.
Hawkman Arrives In Black Adam
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have released a new sizzle reel that showcases their upcoming 2022 projects, including The Batman, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Flash, and Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam.
Within the all-new footage, fans can get their first proper at Aldis Hodge's Hawkman:
Just before the character spreads his wings, what is likely his Thanagarian ship can be seen in the background:

As exciting as it is to see Black Adam on screen for the first time, it's almost more stunning to see a proper adaptation of the Justice Society of America. They all look fantastic, and it will be nothing short of thrilling to see them all go up against Dwayne Johnson's anti-hero.
Hawkman's costume isn't 100% comic accurate, but it comes pretty close. The iconic X shape on his chest is there, but with his chest covered instead of exposed. His color scheme seems different as well, favoring red and gold over the green he usually sports.
His helmet is an awesome interpretation of what's on the pages and is somehow even more grandiose in its own ways. The character's wings seem to have considerable differences. Not only are they bigger than usual, but there's additional color to them, alongside an armored appearance. They also seem to materialize at will on Hawkman's back, rather than being a permanent feature like with his comic book counterpart.
His powers weren't shown off in the trailer, but his enhanced strength and ability to fly will no doubt make the cut. It would also be strange if his iconic weapons never made an appearance, namely his preferred mace.
One of the biggest mysteries that presents itself with the introduction of the winged hero is: where's Hawkgirl? They're usually side-by-side and part of each other's stories. Yet, she's oddly absent here. Unfortunately, Johnson previously revealed that Shiera didn't quite make the cut, but hopefully she will be able to join the beak-bearing hero in a future project down the line.
Will Hodge's Hawkman go up against Adam? It's likely, and hopefully when it happens, the hero will give him a run for his money. He sure looks like a force to be reckoned with—though, so is Johnson's character, who can take on Superman himself. So, it will be interesting to see how that all goes down.
Fans will have to wait until July 29 when Black Adam hits theaters to hopefully find out more.
