DC's Peacemaker Director Reveals Which Episodes Have Post-Credits Scenes

Peacemaker, HBO Max, Vigilante, Judomaster

Following the summer release of James Gunn's DC debut movie The Suicide Squad, the director will next take his talents to the small screen with the Peacemaker spin-off, whose first three episodes premiere on HBO Max on January 13, 2022. John Cena will reprise his role as the peace-seeking anti-hero to save the world from a new deadly threat.

The HBO Max series will also see The Suicide Squad's ARGUS agents John Economos (Steve Agee) and Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) also reprising their roles. Meanwhile, Peacemaker will feature several classic DC Comics characters including Vigilante and Judomaster while several original characters make their debut.

Ever since Marvel Studios first started the trend with 2008's Iron Man, post-credits scenes have become a staple of the comic book movie genre. With Peacemaker being DC's first foray into big-budget TV, many are wondering if the series will take advantage of the concept in the way the MCU's Disney+ series have.

Under two weeks before the premiere, director James Gunn has finally addressed that exact question.

Which Peacemaker Episodes Have Post-Credits Scenes?

Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn recently revealed on Twitter which episodes of the HBO Max series will include a post-credits scene.

When asked if Peacemaker will feature any post-credits scenes, Gunn revealed "every episode" will as a way to give viewers "a little something special" for sticking around through the credits of the "hardworking crew:"

"Every episode. It’s my way to give you guys a little something special for watching the credits of our hardworking crew."

How Will Peacemaker Use Its Post-Credits Scenes?

James Gunn has taken various routes with his post-credits scenes over his superhero filmmaking career. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featured five scenes spread across the credits with some used to tease storylines to come while others were used more for comedic effect.

With Peacemaker set to have eight episodes in its first season, there will almost certainly be a mix of both concepts. As the John Cena project has been promised to be something of a comedy, some will probably just be hilarious gags featuring various characters, especially early in the show.

Although as the season progresses, later episodes will be increasingly likely to feature more meaningful post-credits scenes to set up things to come as Peacemaker builds towards its dramatic climax.

What's much tougher to predict is what may unfold in the after-credits stinger to the season finale. James Gunn could use the final scene to tease any number of things such as Peacemaker Season 2The Suicide Squad's sequel, another villainous spin-off, or perhaps a totally different DC project altogether.

Peacemaker will premiere its first three episodes on January 13, 2022, exclusively on HBO Max.
