Things may be getting weird in the new Disney+ series Loki, but they're only going to get weirder in Marvel's next TV show What If...?

What If...? was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019 as the MCU's first animated anthology series. Like the comics it's based on, What If...? imagines alternate realities and explores what could have been if fate had different plans for everyone's favorite Marvel heroes.

It's already known that there will be What If...? episodes focusing on Peggy Carter taking the super-soldier serum, Party Thor, and zombie Captain America. Another exciting What If...? storyline will explore what would have happened if the Chadwick Boseman-voiced T'Challa was picked up by the Ravagers, from Guardians of the Galaxy, instead of Peter Quill.

Some new plot points about T'Challa's Star-Lord episode of What If...? have been revealed by The Illuminerdi

According to the outlet, T'Challa will not only become Star-Lord in the episode, but he will also be the new leader of the Ravagers. In this alternate reality, the Ravagers are reformed criminals and T'Challa's Star-Lord will lead them on new galactic adventures.

CHADWICK BOSEMAN'S T'CHALLA IN SPACE

T'Challa becoming Star-Lord is one thing, but seeing a whole new reformed Ravager team is another. In the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, the Ravagers were notorious criminals who participated in the worst of crimes. Seeing them as a reformed unit will be quite a change in What If...?.

It seems likely Marvel will lean heavily into the different personalities of Peter Quill and T'Challa in this alternate reality. T'Challa is known as quite a respectful, level-headed, and honorable character in the MCU, and is a natural leader as the Prince of Wakanda. It seems these qualities may help him change the criminal lifestyle of the Ravagers in What If...? . On the flip side, it will be interesting to see how living with a group of space mercenaries will change Chadwick Boseman's character.

Fans will get to see how this story unfolds when What If...? premieres in August 2021.
