Marvel Studios is inching closer to its final Disney+ project of 2021 with Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye making its long-awaited debut in just a few days. With Renner finally getting his first solo project as the Avengers' master archer, this six-episode series will give the hero a chance to revisit his roots while training the new guard of heroes and reconnecting with his family once again.
This series will take the original Avenger further into the future than any Phase 4 show or movie has yet by taking place a full two years after Avengers: Endgame, meaning Clint Barton will be finding his footing after the team fades into the background. However, with Endgame being the MCU's headliner event to date, its impact will clearly be felt as Hawkeye jumps back into the hero game.
Marvel Studios' 2019 blockbuster was a big story for Renner's starring hero, particularly after being notably absent in 2018's Avengers: Infinity War.
This was rectified in a big way as Renner's hero dealt with losing his entire family before taking on the Ronin persona and helping his team complete the Time Heist, although he experienced profound loss in that endeavor by losing Natasha Romanoff even in helping save the universe. Speaking with Renner about his experience watching the movie, it's clear that it was an overwhelming moment off-screen as well.
No More Avengers: Endgame for Renner
Hawkeye star Jeremy Renner spoke with Ali Plumb of BBC Radio revealing that he will never watch his work in Avengers: Endgame again.
Renner confirmed that watched his work with the cast at the Endgame premiere, but he admitted that it was a "difficult experience" considering how emotional it was to relive the experience. Although his view count for Avengers: Endgame only includes the premiere, he loved looking back on his time making the movie and sharing it with his Avengers family:
"I saw it at the premiere, but that was just something to celebrate for all of us. We were all laughing and weeping and it was a lot to do. I’ll never watch that again, it was a difficult experience. We were all just a sobbing mess and we’re laughing. It’s amazing, we were like audience members and that was awesome to experience. I mean, that was a lovely, beautiful experience to share.
An Emotional Time Watching Endgame for Renner
Avengers: Endgame was filled with some of the most emotional moments in MCU history with the film being the culmination of 21 prior movies released over the previous decade. It was particularly emotional for Renner's original Avenger as he went through extreme highs and lows on his journey, which undoubtedly left the star with an overwhelming feeling after seeing it on screen.
Most of Endgame put Renner's character through the wringer as he tried to avenge his wife and children while helping his Avengers family bring half the universe back to life. He cried tears of joy at getting everybody back but also went through enormous grief losing Natasha Romanoff, and it was undoubtedly intense to go through for him as an actor from all angles.
While the longtime MCU actor will have to revisit some of these moments in his new solo series, Endgame appears to have been a one-time watching experience for the newest Disney+ star.
Hawkeye will begin streaming on Disney+ on November 24.
