With more than a handful of MCU Phase 4 projects either already filming or preparing to film soon, Marvel's biggest stars have to get back into superhero mode to embody these roles once again. Some of them are taking their physical training to new heights, such as Thor: Love and Thunder star Chris Hemsworth, who is said to be bigger now than he's ever been in his decade's worth of Marvel movies.
Marvel and Disney recently confirmed release dates for multiple Phase 4 theatrical releases, setting up a great deal of excitement now that more debuts can be penciled in. Included in this bunch is 2023's first MCU film, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will bring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly back for likely their biggest adventure yet.
While it's unclear when filming will start for this next outing, Lilly shared her own personal update in her physical journey.
THE WASP GETTING INTO WASP SHAPE
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Evangelline Lilly posted three videos of herself training on Instagram in preparation to return as Hope Van Dyne in the Marvel threequel.
One video shows Lily working with bands on her neck to stretch out, and the post included the following caption:
"After two years of illness, injury and slow and gentle recovery, it is time, once again, for me to turn my sights back to Wasp. Quantumania here I come...even if I have to hobble to get there!"
Another post included a nine-minute video of Lily working out on the beach on IGTV, showing some of her exercises she uses to build strength in her core and her back.
Lily also included four still images from the IGTV video of different poses and stretches she's performing on the beach.
EVANGELINE LILY PREPPING FOR A BIG ONE
Particularly with the physical challenges Lily describes in her posts, this should be a great sign as she prepares for her fourth MCU film. Janet Van Dyne had the chance to evolve fully into a hero in 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp, and her journey should continue to develop even further as she embraces her superhero persona.
Details on both the production and plot for Lily's third solo movie are scarce, but things should start to become clearer now that an official release date is attached. With just under two years until the third Ant-Man outing comes to theaters, there is still likely plenty of time before cameras rolling. That clearly isn't stopping Lily from making sure she's all set with plenty of time though.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will release on February 17, 2023.
