This article contains spoilers for Episode 4 of WandaVision.
This week's episode of WandaVision was full of references to the wider MCU. Fans learned that Monica Rambeau, who was last seen in the MCU as a young girl in Captain Marvel, grew up to become an agent of SWORD, a mysterious organization founded by her mother Maria. It was also revealed that Monica was one of those who vanished in The Blip and in the time she was gone her mother passed away from cancer.
When Monica next appears later in the episode "We Interrupt This Program", she can be seen wearing a necklace that is a shout-out to a particular MCU hero.
MONICA RAMBEAU'S CAPTAIN MARVEL BLING
When Monica arrives at SWORD's headquarters in Episode 4 of WandaVision, she can be seen wearing a gold pendant necklace. Upon closer examination, the necklace seems to be inscribed with a symbol that resembles Captain Marvel's insignia.
HINTS OF CAPTAIN MARVEL'S PRESENCE IN WANDAVISION
Captain Marvel wears an eight-pointed star on her suit, which is her unique symbol from her time serving with the Kree. While she ditches the Kree colors in the Captain Marvel film, she keeps the star which becomes synonymous with her hero identity. This necklace definitely looks to be a tribute to that symbol.
It's unknown at this point how exactly Captain Marvel fits into the WandaVision timeline. From Avengers Endgame it's known that Carol went off-world to help other planets after The Snap; although it's unclear how often she returned to Earth during this time, if at all.
Carol Danvers was very clearly Monica's hero during Captain Marvel. While it's still uncertain whether Carol was there for her best friend, Maria, in her final moments, it seems likely seeing as Monica continues to idolize her as an adult. If Carol hadn't been there to support Monica's mother at the end, she may have lost some respect. This necklace indicates that Captain Marvel continues to play a big part in Monica's life, even if we do not yet know exactly the extent of her influence on Monica.
