Doctor Strange Spider-Man No Way Home

Spider-Man: No Way Home was released just under a month ago, and the film is still crushing the box office. As exciting as Tom Holland's adventures as the web-slinger are, his movie wasn't necessarily the one people were thinking about coming out of theaters. The final post-credit sequence of the movie was a full-blown teaser trailer for Benedict Cumberbatch's upcoming project: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The upcoming sequel to the 2016 movie features the return of everyone's favorite doctor, alongside Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch and Benedict Wong's Sorcerer Supreme. If the teaser is anything to go by, the crew will be up against some serious stakes.

One of the new additions to the cast is Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez, a character who actually showed up in No Way Home during one of the film's earlier drafts. Her Multiversal powers are likely a driving force in Doctor Strange's story, seeing as how she can easily cross between universes.

Audiences have taken kindly to what was shown in the first trailer, something that has even gotten back to Cumberbatch himself.

In an interview with DeadlineSpider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness actor Benedict Cumberbatch commented on the general reception to his upcoming sequel's first teaser.

The actor admitted that "it's been a bit of a moment, to be honest:"

“I’m thrilled at the reaction to the teaser trailer at the end of Spider-Man; I’m thrilled at the reaction that film’s been having,” he told Deadline. “I mean, it’s been a bit of a moment, to be honest.”

Deadline also reported that additional photography, which reportedly comprised of extensive reshoots that began in November, properly wrapped on Saturday, January 8.

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Return

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has high expectations being thrust upon it. While they weren't as high as those surrounding No Way Home were, this upcoming MCU film is set to be the first to truly take a deep dive into the concept of the Multiverse.

In doing so, the movie's heroes will likely come across insane cameos. It was just recently announced that Ben Affleck was asked about coming in for a Daredevil cameo, and there's plenty of talk about all the various Fox Marvel characters who could show their faces.

The movie isn't all cameos, of course. It's unclear what the actual threat of and or to the Multiverse is, but the trailer seems to want the audiences to think it's related to a darker Doctor Strange—one that many fans believe is the same one who featured in What If...?.

Fans are also looking forward to Wanda Maximoff's next step in her journey. Some believe the film could end with her somehow introducing the Mutants to the world, a widely speculated topic by the fanbase.

Sadly, audiences worldwide will have to wait until May 5 later this year until they can have their questions answered.
