Spider-Man: No Way Home might be the most anticipated comic book film of all time. While Avengers: Endgame would probably have something to say about that, the collective MCU fandom has the Spidey threequel firmly in its sights.
The wait for No Way Home's second trailer has felt like eons for fans, with theories abound permeating the internet Twittersphere. In the meantime, the webhead faithful have been left to ponder, asking, will former Peter Parkers join in on the Multiversal action here? What villains will or won't be back? It's all up in the air right now.
It was recently announced that audiences will not have to wait much longer before they get a peek at more wall-crawling footage. Sony and Marvel just unveiled plans to host a No Way Home fan event on Tuesday, November 16 for a first look at the second trailer. Tickets for the event sold out in minutes, leaving many to wonder when they will get to see the second look.
Industry insiders are saying not to fret though, as all will be revealed in time.
Will Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer 2 Release Online?
CinemaBlend's Sean O'Connell reported that "a separate announcement about the online plan" for Spider-Man: No Way Home's second trailer "is coming." The movie writer-author went on to state that public release details will be announced "before the Tuesday [fan] event:"
"From what I understand, a separate announcement about the online plan is coming. These things change, regarding timing. But this will be clear before the Tuesday event."
Disney news aggregator BillyBugNews followed this up saying that this is a "TRAILER LAUNCH" so he is almost "certain it’ll release online" soon after the LA first look:
"Sean O'Connell has teased that it could come online. Why else would it be called a TRAILER LAUNCH. those ppl that you’ve heard saying the trailer won’t drop probably are just speculating/guessing. I’m 80% certain it’ll release online. Just like CinemaCon"
UPDATE: Marvel and Sony have jointly announced that the second trailer will be released online at about 8:30pm ET on Tuesday, November 16.
All in Due Time
Both Sean O'Connell and BillyBugNews are making good points here. How much sense would it make for studios as big as Sony and Disney to keep this trailer hidden long after it is shown to fans for the first time?
Surely there will be leaks-a-plenty from this LA fan event, so either they put out an HD version of the No Way Home trailer shortly after, or fans who could not get access will flock to the various handicap versions that will pop up.
As for when that official version hits YouTube, one has to consider a couple of options. It could very easily be upon the conclusion of this event, where once that small contingent of press and fans have seen it, the trailer goes live within 30 or 40 minutes.
Another option involves a different movie in Sony's portfolio. Ghostbusters: Afterlife debuts for the studio next week, so why not include the trailer with the new film, putting it online when showings for Ghostbusters kick off on Thursday.
This would leave nearly 48 hours where this small theater of first-look fans can relish in the joy of being one of the first to see this second teaser. Sure, it would cause a bit of uproar among those that couldn't get into the exclusive event, but why hold the event at all if you are just going to put the trailer online immediately afterwards?
Spider-Man: No Way Home swings into theaters on December 17.
