Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to feature the return of Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff, with the former Avenger teaming up with Benedict Cumberbatch’s titular sorcerer. The character’s comeback comes after her game-changing adventure in WandaVision, where Wanda ultimately transforms into the Scarlet Witch.

Wanda’s inclusion in Multiverse of Madness has been a subject of speculation among fans, as various footage has either teased that she teams up with the rest of the heroes, or she could actually be the main villain. Despite that, it’s clear that Wanda is going all-out to unleash her power one way or another.

Now, new footage from the sequel has given a preview of the character’s powerful return.

Based on this new footage, it appears that Multiverse of Madness will not hold back from fully showcasing the Scarlet Witch’s powers against anyone in her path.

The clip of Wanda’s attack on the Illuminati headquarters has been a huge part of the sequel’s promotional push. Given that plot details are still being kept under wraps, there are two potential scenarios for this thrilling sequence.

Early footage has revealed that Doctor Strange and America Chavez are captured by the Illuminati. That said, it’s possible that Wanda is trying to save the pair, but her powers might’ve been too much, thus resulting in the potential death of some of the group’s members and the destruction of the Ultron bots

On the flip side, Wanda could be hunting down Strange and Chavez instead of trying to save them, with the Illuminati offering protection.

Multiverse of Madness director Sam Raimi shared that he thinks Wanda’s magic is “more powerful than almost any of the other characters” in the movie. This footage combined with the previous clips shown essentially cements that claim, and the fact that Wanda is doing it all covered in blood and in street clothes is a fitting tip of the iceberg.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters on May 6.
