Star Wars: The Bad Batch may be holding the fort on Disney+ right now, but apart from that it's a bit quiet on the Star Wars front. It won't be that way for long, however, with over 10 new Star Wars projects coming down the pipe.
A lot of these are still in development, but the Obi-Wan Kenobi series is deep into production. Disney answered the prayers of many fans late last year when it announced that Ewan McGregor would be returning for a prequel series featuring his Jedi Master.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is in the midst of filming in the UK and there have already been glimpses of McGregor in costume alongside stormtroopers, Imperial officers, and maybe even Jawas.
It seems these aren't the only exciting Star Wars characters fans can expect to see in the upcoming Disney+ series.
OBI-WAN KENOBI WILL FEATURE DARTH VADER'S SQUAD
Making Star Wars Editor-in-Chief Jason Ward has teased some upcoming characters audiences will see in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
According to Ward's sources, Obi-Wan will be seen crossing lightsabers with one of Darth Vader's Inquisitors "in at least one episode" of the show.
"In the series, Obi-Wan will fight at least one inquisitor. Lightsabers will clash and we will see Kenobi up against The Inquisitorius in at least an episode of the limited series. Will this vein run throughout many episodes or just occur in a single story? That I do not know for certain at this time and it would be conjecture on my part to state any further. But take it from me, empirically, the Imperial Inquisition is coming for old(ish) Ben."
THE INQUISITORS ARE COMING FOR KENOBI
Fans of Star Wars Rebels or Jedi Fallen Order will be familiar with Darth Vader's Inquisitorial squad. The group of elite Jedi hunting agents are yet to make an appearance in a live-action Star Wars project, so it's exciting news that their debut may be on the way.
Rumors about the Inquisitors showing up in Obi-Wan Kenobi have been circling for a while, with some predicting that Moses Ingram's mysterious new character will end up being an Inquisitor. Ingram has previously posted videos of her training with a lightsaber for the Star Wars series, so it could turn out that she's playing the character Obi-Wan clashes sabers with.
Still, it is unknown if Ingram's character is connected to Darth Vader's past self, Anakin Skywalker.
As Obi-Wan Kenobi is set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, it makes sense to see the Inquisitors show up here. The majority of appearances from the group so far have been set in this time frame and with the Inquisitors responsible for cleaning up the dregs of Order 66, it seems obvious Kenobi would be at the top of their list.
