The Secret Invasion cast has been the talk of the Marvel community for the past few months.

With fan favorites like Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn returning and big names like Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman along for the ride, this is the biggest Disney+ series cast so far.

And there is another big-name fan-favorite joining the already star-studded roster.

Deadline has reported that Christopher McDonald has been cast for a role in Secret Invasion.

Audiences best know McDonald as Shoot McGavin in the 1996 comedy Happy Gilmore.

Details about McDonald's role are still unknown, but Deadline reporter Nellie Andreeva says that she hears it could be substantial.

"I hear it is a newly created character that could cross over to the larger MCU, including appearing in movies and other Disney+ limited series."

Marvel Studios has not commented on this report.

SHOOTER MCGAVIN IN THE MCU

It is hard to guess what role Christopher McDonald will play in Secret Invasion , but that has been the case for every actor cast to this project that isn't Jackson or Mendelsohn.

The report that McDonald's role could transition into the bigger story of the MCU, there is a good chance he could be playing a prominent Skrull character. Fans first met Skrulls in 2019's Captain Marvel and have seen the shape-shifting species pop up in more than half of the Marvel projects that have been released since ( Spider-Man: Far From Home, WandaVision and Loki).

Secret Invasion is a classic Marvel Comics run that sees the Skrulls imprinted throughout the fabric of the Marvel Universe. If McDonald is portraying a leader in the Skrull operation, he is sure to be heavily involved in the grand scheme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With the sheer scope of the story, Secret Invasion is sure to tackle, this is surely not the last big name we will see added to the show.

While McDonald's fame mostly lives in the nineties, he is no stranger to sharing the screen with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. He acted opposite Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore and was a part of the legendary cast of 1991's Thelma & Louise which featured Gina Davis, Susan Sarandon, and Brad Pitt.

Christopher McDonald is one of those actors in Hollywood that carried his most famous role with him everywhere he goes ever since 1996.

Seeing Shooter McGavin in the MCU may have been a shock a couple of months ago, but after seeing Seinfeld and Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus appear in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier , it seems like anything is possible.
