Keanu Reeves is one of the biggest names in movies not to be featured in the MCU. The Canadian actor has stated on many occasions that he would love to jump aboard the Marvel Studios ship, but nothing concrete has ever come from it yet. At this point, it only seems like a matter of time before The Matrix star shows up in an MCU project.
Reeves is no stranger to the comic book movie world having played Constantine in the 2005 DC Comics movie of the same name and voicing an undisclosed role in the upcoming DC League of Super-Pets film.
But when will Keanu show up in a Marvel Studios project? And what sort of talks have gone on between him and the MCU bigwigs?
Well, according to a new interview with Reeves himself, the actor seems to have some thoughts on the people who make the MCU happen and where he may fit in it.
Kevin Feige the 'Cool Cat'
In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, The Matrix and John Wick star Keanu Reeves called Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige a "cool cat."
The actor was asked about potentially joining the MCU, to which he replied "[they] haven't yet" found a role that fits for him, but "[they] have met, and [Kevin Feige]'s a cool cat." Nonetheless, Reeves is still hopeful for an eventual Marvel role, saying he and the Avengers studio "gotta find something":
"We have met, and [Kevin Feige]'s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don't have anything, gotta find something."
When prodded on where Reeves could see himself fitting into the Marvel Studios world, he said "[he] actually [doesn't] have an answer" but thinks "it would be fun to be a part of:"
"Oh my gosh, I don't know! I actually don't have an answer... There's so many wonderful films and filmmakers and artists participating in those films."
Only a Matter of Time for Keanu Reeves
Keanu Reeves is about as surefire of a bet of actors joining the MCU as one can get. Marvel Studios' own Kevin Feige has made it known before that they have talked about Keanu joining the franchise with nearly every project their team puts out. At this point, it feels like an inevitability that Mr. Reeves will eventually be a part of an MCU project; it is just a matter of finding the right role.
Reeves' name has been attached to rumors surrounding the upcoming Moon Knight series, but nothing official has been confirmed. If the actor was hiding that he had been officially cast in something, Moon Knight sure feels right up Keanu's alley.
The one thing, though, is many have thought that the John Wick star would take on the role of Moon Knight himself, a part that Oscar Issac has been officially attached to for months now.
Other rumors have pointed to Keanu playing someone like Ghost Rider or Silver Surfer if and when they come to the MCU, which also sound like perfect fits. If Marvel were to build up to a potential Midnight Suns team-up (a group Ghost Rider is a member of in the comics), then bringing the actor in as Ghost Rider and having him be a part of the universe for a substantial period of time does make sense.
Fans should not worry though. Keanu Reeves will come to the MCU, it is just a matter of when.
