Marvel Studios Drops T.I. From Ant-Man 3

With all the Marvel content set to release in the near future, some other projects have been getting a bit less attention. As of now, fans know very little about Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, even as it seems set to explore some huge elements of the MCU.

Kang the Conqueror, an extremely consequential figure from the comics, is confirmed to play a role in the film. This inclusion seems to hint towards another time-travel-based adventure, likely playing out in relation to the Quantum Realm. It may also point towards the introduction of some other characters we haven't yet seen in the MCU, like the Young Avengers.

Even as the film is just beginning the process of entering production, it has already run into some issues related to the cast.

T.I. OUT OF ANT-MAN 3

According to an article from The Hollywood Reporter, actor T.I. will not be reprising his role as Dave in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The news comes in the wake of a slew of accusations of sexual abuse against the rapper and actor. The connection between these charges and this development is not confirmed.

The film in question will begin production soon in Turkey and is set to release sometime in 2022

Update: Variety has now reported that this development is not related to these recent accusations and that the actor was never intended to come back for the third film.

ANY CHANGE IN COURSE FOR ANT-MAN 3?

Though this bit of news is certainly significant for Disney, it likely won't change much about the actual film. A part of the X-Con Security consultant group, T.I. played a small supporting role in the first two Ant-Man films. Fans should likely expect a brief line explaining away his absence in the film, or perhaps no mention of the character at all.

With this title focusing on massive characters like Kang and huge conceptual elements, like the Quantum Realm, side characters like the X-Cons were probably already going to have their roles shrunk down. Even fan-favorite characters like Randall Park's Jimmy Woo may not appear in the film.

Though the story may be significant, it will probably alter almost nothing about the course of Ant-Man 3.
