After the success of both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki will serve as the next installment of the MCU's ambitious Phase 4 slate.
The upcoming Marvel series will see the return of Tom Hiddleston as the charismatic God of Mischief, but his adventure will be entirely different this time around. Instead of tricking his brother, Thor, and the rest of Asgard, Loki will follow an alternate version of Marvel's trickster as he tries to defend the sacred timeline from imminent threats with the help of the TVA.
The timeline-saving ordeal is the main premise of Loki, and he will not be alone during this all-important mission. Joining him is the mysterious organization known as the Time Variance Authority. The TVA is described as the MCU's timekeepers, and they seem poised to do anything in their power to prevent the timeline from being destroyed.
Now, a special look at the allies (or enemies?) of the titular Trickster has been revealed.
THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF LOKI
Marvel Studios officially released four new character posters for Loki, showcasing a fresh look at the main cast of the upcoming Disney+ series.
Tom Hiddleston looks ready to defend the timeline in this new poster for the series.
Owen Wilson's Mobius appears prepared to partner up with the God of Mischief in this latest poster.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Judge Renslayer will do anything to defend both the timeline and the TVA during Loki.
Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15 will keep an eye on Loki during several missions to protect the timeline alongside the TVA.
THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LOKI AND THE TVA
The multiverse is the next big thing in the MCU, and Loki will start embracing that concept when it premieres. The inclusion of the Time Variance Authority presents massive ramifications for the larger MCU, and it all starts with Mobius, Judge Renslayer, and Hunter B-15.
Based on the posters, it seems that the TVA will be explored through the perspectives of the three aforementioned characters with all of them playing pivotal roles in the transformation of Loki and the evolution of the timeline throughout the show's run.
Aside from protecting the timeline, it remains to be seen why the TVA recruited a dangerous character like Loki to help in their mission. There's a sense that there is a larger motivation behind the recruitment, and this could even spell trouble for the rest of the multiverse.
The TVA is not known to be a shady organization since they are the timekeepers after all, but Loki's involvement is definitely a big question mark. From the emergence of different Loki variants to the looming threat of an unknown foe, the possibilities are endless.
Fans will eventually find out what's going on when Loki premieres on Disney+ on June 9, 2021.
