The Snyder Cut has finally been released and fans and critics alike are enjoying it much more than the 2017 original . This massive project has given fans a lot more time with the heroes of the Justice League . A few major changes marketed in Snyder's version of the film were Superman wearing a black suit, the inclusion of Jared Leto's Joker, and Darkseid having a presence in the film.
After Zack Snyder's Justice League was released on HBO Max on March 18, audiences had four hours of action to sift through. Naturally, a few hidden Easter Eggs have been discovered in the days since its release.
DARKSEID DESTROYING JUSTICE LEAGUE
During the final "Epiologue" section of Zack Snyder's Justice League, viewers got an extended taste of Batman's Knightmare. Not only did this glimpse of a hopeless world include an unexpected team-up of Batman, Joker, and Deathstroke, but also showed Darkseid murdering most of the Justice League. One scene is shown to be Wonder Woman's funeral.
During a closer look, Darkseid can be seen watching Diana Prince's body burn. This is a darker look into Darkseid and the joy he seemingly gets from ridding the world of heroes and taking control.
The next still shows a pivotal moment of the Knightmare sequence. It displays Darkseid defeating Superman, but not in the traditional sense. In this apocalyptic world, Darkseid has killed Lois Lane, thereby devastating Clark Kent. It is inferred that Darkseid uses the Anti-Life Equation found of Earth to turn Superman evil and into a pawn for his mass genocide.
Darkseid was also shown ruthlessly stabbing Aquaman to death with his own trident in the Knightmare sequence. This image shows a close-up look at Darkseid's famous glowing red eyes from the comic books.
DARKSEID'S BRUTALITY
Since the release of the Snyder Cut, Zack Snyder has spoken about plans for future Justice League films that will now probably never be made . One of the major keys to the future of the Snyder-verse is the Knightmare becoming a reality and the destruction of the world coming at the hands of Darkseid and his army.
In many ways, Zack Snyder's Justice League was a heroic setup for an even darker future. Steppenwolf proved to not be enough to handle the Justice League, especially when Superman returned but Darkseid seems like he could be up to the task.
Darkseid was portrayed in this film as a god-level being who has conquered thousands of worlds already. An experienced killer who wants universe-dominating control and power. This extreme level of strength would've been interesting to see play out against the heroes, but unlikely at this point.
These stills from Zack Snyder's Justice League hint at the brutality and cruelty awaiting the Justice League in these hypothetical sequels. For now, Darkseid remains a looking threat in the DCEU, but what DC films are canon or not is getting more confusing by the day.
