Hailee Steinfeld's Multi-Project Marvel Deal Didn't Factor Into Her Decision To Join Hawkeye

While Marvel Studios is officially back in business thanks to the WandaVision premiere on Disney+ , the team now has the chance to build excitement for nearly every week of 2021. Early Phase 4 projects are complete and ready to debut, and others still have plenty of filming left to complete before the post-production process.

One of the last of these entires for 2021 will be Hawkeye on Disney+, as Jeremy Renner takes on his first headlining appearance in the MCU. Alongside him will be Hailee Steinfeld, who will bring the talented young archer Kate Bishop to life for the first time on screen.

Taking on a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is no small endeavor, which makes the decision an important one for someone as busy as Steinfeld. Recently, she expanded on her choice to take on the superhero role.

NEWS

In a recent interview with Collider , Hawkeye star Hailee Steinfeld expanded on her experience so far being a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Steinfeld was asked how much of Kate Bishop’s arc was revealed to her prior to signing on to play the role, and how much she had to simply trust Marvel’s plan:

“If there’s anyone to trust, it’s Marvel. I’m just so honored to be a part of the MCU, and more so excited to be able to talk about it. It’s been quite awhile that I’ve been having to keep that a secret, and I’m not good at that. It’s been a wonderful experience, developing this character and taking elements of her from the comics and what we know with her history. It’s just very exciting to be playing a character, much like Emily (Dickinson), that is so loved by so many people.”

Steinfeld also gave some insight into the possibility of appearing in other future Marvel projects in the future. Steinfeld, like all other major MCU actors, signed a contract committing herself to multiple projects if Marvel Studios wants her Kate Bishop to appear in more shows (or movies) beyond Hawkeye. Steinfeld revealed that such a long-term commitment didn't cause her any hesitation when deciding to sign on to the MCU role:

"No. That didn’t play into any reason why I wouldn’t want to be involved, that’s for sure. My music is something I can do on the road and on the go. Simultaneously with my acting obviously makes it a little more challenging, but it’s thankfully it’s something that I can continue and have continued to do and work on as I’m working on these shows."

WHAT THIS MEANS

When actors take on a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, no matter how much star power they possess , they dedicate a huge portion of their lives to embodying that role. Most of these actors sign on with Marvel Studios for more than a handful of projects at a time, and depending on the role, there is plenty of extra work to do outside of the MCU bubble.

Hailee Steinfeld is quickly becoming one of Hollywood's most sought-after rising stars after appearances in blockbusters like Bumblebee and Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse . Even considering she is currently playing the lead role of Emily Dickinson in the Dickinson series, on which she also serves as an executive producer, Steinfeld appears to be jumping at the chance to play one of the MCU's most anticipated heroes.

After Kate Bishop debuts in 2021's Hawkeye , she will likely play a major role in the MCU for years to come . Bishop has not only fought with the Avengers, but also served as one of the leaders of the Young Avengers in Marvel Comics. With nearly every character from that group confirmed to join the MCU in Phase 4 and beyond , it should only be a matter of time before Steinfeld takes on more responsibilities with this role.

For now, Steinfeld is deep into filming for Hawkeye , which will premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
