Disney+ Adds Violence Warning To Falcon and the Winter Soldier Following Tragic Events

It's no secret that The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will feature plenty of action scenes. The first episode had a few to wet everyone's appetite, and viewers are only going to see more from there.

However, the grounded nature of the show that makes it seem more realistic compared to many other MCU projects (including Marvel's previous Disney+ series WandaVision ) means that the violence may seem more true to real life as well.

A NEW WARNING ON DISNEY+

On The Falcon and the Winter Soldier 's description page on Disney+, a new warning for content that may be "triggering or unsettling to some viewers" can be seen under the show's summary.

"Though it is fictional and set in the comic-book world, the series contains violent scenes that may be viewed as triggering or unsettling to some viewers, particularly in light of recent real-world tragic events."

PREPARING THE AUDIENCE

Disney+ has been in the news recently for putting mandatory content warnings at the beginning of various programming on the streaming service containing "outdated cultural depictions" of various countries and racial groups. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier 's warning is different, as it doesn't appear onscreen before an episode plays, only underneath the description for the show on the platform.

Cast and crew have previously discussed the parallels the show has to reality, including the attacks on the United States Capitol that occurred back in January. With the recent mass shootings around the country - including the one in Boulder, Colorado - in addition to this, it's likely that gun violence is one of the things this message is warning viewers about. Some other countries have already given the series a tougher age rating because of the nature of its violence, so it comes as no surprise that content like this will be in the show.

As of now, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is the only programming on Disney+ to receive a warning of this nature, but it's very possible more shows and movies will get a similar one in the future.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier releases new episodes every Friday on Disney+.
