Black Adam has been a project that has been talked about for years and is something of a passion project for lead star Dwayne Johnson. It's taken a long time, but the movie finally started to get the ball rolling as of late—in fact, filming recently came to a close for Johnson its star

Black Adam isn't the only character set to make his debut in the 2022 film. There's also Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Pierce Bronsan's Doctor Fate, and Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone—all of whom are part of the Justice Society of America, a group which will make their proper debut in the DCEU alongside The Rock's titular character.

Of course, when talking about Black Adam and the powerhouse that he is, it's hard not to think about the other man at the top of the DCU power chain: Superman. While it's been a while since fans have seen the character in the DCEU proper, there's always hope he will show up again.

With Black Adam on the horizon, some may wonder if fans will ever see the two characters collide. It's a question that was even posed to the film's producer, Hiram Garcia.

WILL BLACK ADAM FIGHT HENRY CAVILL'S SUPERMAN?

In an interview with ColliderBlack Adam producer Hiram Garcia was asked if fans would ever see Black Adam face off against Henry Cavill's Superman on the big screen.

In response, Garcia wasn't able to offer much more than "we certainly knew the fans want it:"

"Hard to say, but I know that would be incredible if it ever did happen. We certainly know the fans want it! All I can say is that we’re always listening to the fans and doing what we can!"

Moving past the Superman-sized elephant in the room, Collider went on to ask if, thanks to the HBO Max focus at Warner Bros., there were any spinoff or prequel ideas that could/would make their home on HBO Max.

Garcia responded by saying that "we have had discussions," but that he "[couldn't] say anything specifically:"

"When it comes to the Black Adam universe, we have had discussions covering all gambits of what that could be like. So I can't say anything specifically, but obviously, DJ, Dany, and myself, along with all of Seven Bucks is thrilled with our involvement in the DC Universe, especially with Black Adam and Super-Pets. With those two big properties and the tentacles that emerge from them, there are so many conversations happening as we figure out how to expand those universes and build them out. Every day there's a new discussion about the universe and believe me when I say our ambitions are big! We're really excited to be a part of the DC universe and bring more of their characters to life."

FORGET SUPERMAN, WHAT OF SHAZAM?

It's easy to see why so many want to see Black Adam and Henry Cavill's Superman fight on screen. After all, the two are some of the strongest that the DC Universe has to offer. But while Kal-El is neat and all, the focus should really be on Shazam.

Shazam's strength not only rivals Superman, but his origin is much more interwoven with Teth-Adam's Black Adam—which is a dead giveaway thanks to the similarities in their costumes. So, one would think a crossover between the two is something that would come before Henry Cavill's hero ever gets involved.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently filming in Atlanta, which is where Black Adam is also stationed. It could be a coincidence, of course, but there's the chance a crossover tease could be worked out; though Shazam!'s director claims to know nothing about The Rock's film

Either way, fans will find out when Black Adam hits theaters on July 29, 2022, and Shazam! Fury of the Gods on June 2, 2023.
