Moon Knight is mere days away from its premiere on Disney+, and fans are eager with anticipation. The MCU streaming series features Oscar Isaac as the titular hero and looks to be a darker take on the world of Marvel Studios. Isaac's Marc Spector will be center stage for the first time as he gets tied up in a mystery connected to the gods of Ancient Egypt while grappling with his own demons.
Moon Knight has been in the works for quite some time now, but audiences are finally getting their first taste of the series as the press releases their thoughts on the first few episodes. These reviews, in advance of the show's official premiere, have been mostly positive with many calling it one of the best Disney+ projects to come from Marvel Studios.
However, this title seems to be a little different for Marvel as it looks to be relatively standalone when compared to its other MCU endeavors. Isaac's hero is seemingly on his own in this, without the help of the franchise's best and brightest.
Or at least that is what the trailers for Moon Knight have led fans to believe up to this point. Rumors have begun percolating that Moon Knight will come face-to-face with one of the biggest names in the MCU, and a recent quote from the show's star has fueled that fire even more.
Hulk and Moon Knight Sitting in a Tree
Moon Knight star Oscar Isaac revealed to UK's Hits Radio in a recent interview that he thinks his troubled Marvel hero would get along with Mark Ruffalo's Hulk.
When asked who he could see Moon Knight teaming up with, the actor hummed and hawed before coming up with "Hulk" as his answer:
“I mean he’s a bit of a loner, so that the thing. I don’t know maybe… Who would he get along with in the MCU out of everyone? Maybe Hulk! Yea, I could see it happen.”
This comes amid rampant rumors that Moon Knight will see the inclusion of Marvel's not-so-Jolly Green Giant.
Playing Marvel Matchmaker
It certainly doesn't seem like Oscar Isaac is confirming anything here and is likely just having fun with the press. But this quote will lead many to lock in a Hulk appearance in the upcoming Moon Knight.
While this pairing may not seem the most obvious, it might actually make sense to see on screen. Both are dealing with losing control of their minds and bodies in a way. Sure, Bruce has learned to tame the beast a bit over his years of going green, but that beast still remains nonetheless.
It would be interesting to see Marc and Bruce or Hulk and Moon Knight come together on-screen. Over the last decade or so (really since Avengers), Marvel Studios has made Mark Ruffalo's Bruce a little more fun than the darker general milieu of Moon Knight, or what seems to be coming. Sure, the character has gone through serious stuff, but gone are the Edward Norton days of treating Hulk as an almost completely serious thing.
So, if Ruffalo were to appear alongside Oscar Isaac in his debut, it may feel a little jarring for some considering the supposed dark tone from Moon Knight. That is not to say he wouldn't be welcome, it just would be curious to see how Marvel Studios would handle this tonal shift.
Moon Knight debuts on Disney+ on March 30.
