Wonder Woman 1984 had a successful run on HBO Max, boosting the subscribers of the streaming platform by 4.5 million. While the sequel did lose almost $100 million at the box office, the unprecedented release of the film is still notable in its own right.
The Gal Gadot-led sequel had its fair share of delays leading up to its release, which made the wait even more worth it. Given that, fans were initially pleased with the narrative of Wonder Woman 1984, considering that it stayed true to Diana Prince's Themysciran heritage while also impacting the DCEU in numerous ways.
The future of the Wonder Woman franchise is bright after it was officially announced that a third installment is in the cards from Warner Bros. While fans speculate on Diana's next superhero adventure, a new behind-the-scenes photo from Wonder Woman 1984 has emerged to tide them over.
GAL GADOT STRIKES A POSE
Gal Gadot shared two behind-the-scenes photos from the Spain set of Wonder Woman 1984. The image shows Pine taking a picture of Gadot alongside a telephone booth.
TOUCHING MOMENT ON THE WONDER WOMAN SET
As it is, this new batch of set photos essentially cements the bond between Gadot and Pine. The pair's reunion in Wonder Woman 1984 was unexpected, especially considering Steve Trevor's death in 2017's Wonder Woman. That said, this may very well serve as the pair's way of making the moment count behind-the-scenes.
It remains to be seen if Pine will reprise his Steve Trevor role again in the currently untitled Wonder Woman 3, but it's reasonable to assume that his time with the franchise might've already ended in last year's sequel. In a way, this appears to be the perfect way to go since Pine returning for the third time might be considered overkill for some fans.
It's no secret that the dynamic between Gadot and Pine is one of the bright spots of the DCEU's Wonder Woman franchise, and it's safe to say that their chemistry will be missed. Still, it makes sense that Trevor will be referenced in some form during the threequel, mainly because he was essential in the character growth of Diana through the years.
All in all, this latest set of behind-the-scenes images from Gadot is a fitting reminder of Diana Prince and Steve Trevor's undying love for each other while also representing the solid real-life friendship of the actress and Pine.
