The Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom is currently enduring its last weekend in a year and a half without new content, and the excitement is building to a fever pitch .

This Friday will bring the long-awaited debut of the MCU’s Phase 4, which will begin on Disney+ with WandaVision . This first TV show set within the MCU is set to take a headfirst dive into the history of American sitcoms while showing what the two central superheroes are up to after the events of Avengers: Endgame .

While the plot of this show is still a complete mystery , the crew put in every effort to make sure that the over half-dozen sitcom styles utilized in the storytelling were executed perfectly.

The recent press conference including the team behind WandaVision confirmed this, even mentioning one specific part of TV shows from every era.

NEWS

During the press conference for Marvel Studios’ WandaVision on Disney+, via ComicBook , Marvel CCO Kevin Feige was asked about the use of commercials during the show’s first three episodes and the MCU references they hold. Also included in this question was a mention of HYDRA and if it will appear again in Phase 4.

Feige stated:

"Commercials was an early idea for that. If this is the very first Marvel, MCU thing you're watching, it's just a strange version of a 50s commercial or 60s commercial. If you have been watching all those movies, you might be able to start connecting what all those things mean from the past."

WHAT THIS MEANS

Considering WandaVision will emulate classic TV shows from the 1950s through the present day, it makes sense that each era would come with its own appropriate commercials.

It’s still unclear what this will specifically mean within the show, but this series will come as a huge payoff to long-time MCU fans. While Wanda and Vision have both only been around for just under six of the franchise’s dozen+ years, their MCU history is long with plenty of important milestones.

HYDRA was also specifically involved with Wanda’s origin story when Baron Wolfgang Von Strucker experimented on her and her brother, Pietro, with the Mind Stone. There is no indication whether HYDRA will return in full, especially with SWORD now in play, but MCU diehards should be in for an incredible ride.

WandaVision will premiere on Disney+ on Friday, January 15.
