Netflix's new time travel slasher movie, Time Cut, features a haunting killer tied to a character in the past.

Time Cut revolves around the story of a high school student named Lucy (Outer Banks' Madison Bailey) who unexpectedly goes back in time to 2003 before her sister, Summer (Ginny and Georgia star Antonia Gentry), was murdered by a killer known as the Sweetly Slasher.

Time Cut premiered on Netflix on October 30.

Time Cut's ending revealed that the Sweetly Slasher (aka the killer who murdered Summer and her circle of friends in 2003) was revealed to be a future version of Quinn (Griffin Gluck) who used the time machine to seek revenge on those who didn't help him when he was thrown in the river by his bullies.

Before becoming a killer hellbent on revenge, Quinn was a friendly student with a fascination for science. But why did he decide to kill Summer and her three other friends?

After his traumatic river incident, Quinn had not moved on, and he grew bitter over time which led to his decision to use his newly crafted anti-matter time machine from SONR for his killing spree.

Quinn also had a fascination with Summer in the past, but her rejection was the final straw that made him decide to become a killer.

The fact that he is also from the future makes it easy for him to avoid any legal consequences, which is why the Sweetly Slasher's identity wasn't revealed in the future.

So How Did Lucy End Up Defeating the Sweetly Slasher?

In the horror movie, Lucy goes back in time after she unexpectedly comes across SONR's anti-matter time machine in 2024, bringing her back to April 16, 2003 (aka days before her sister, Summer's, death).

She changes the timeline by befriending Quinn, preventing the bullies from throwing him in the river which ultimately changes his life for the better.

Lucy and Quinn forge a strong bond, and they work together to try and stop the Sweetly Slasher's killing spree.

While they fail to save two of Summer's friends (Val and Brian), they still manage to keep Summer and her best friend, Emmy, alive.

A final confrontation between the Sweetly Slasher and Lucy ensues, with Lucy ultimately killing the future version of Quinn after they both return in 2024.

Lucy then decides to stay in 2003 after realizing that she has no life to come back to in 2024 since Summer's survival meant that her parents had no intention of having her in the first place.

Another movie in the same vein as Time Cut is a movie called Thanksgiving where the killer's secret origin story is tied to a catastrophic Black Friday sale that went haywire.

Time Cut is now streaming on Netflix.
