Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian on Disney+

One of the most popular characters from Star Wars's anthology stories was Donald Glover's Lando Calrissian.

Glover portrayed the space scoundrel with the suave and style as Billy Dee Williams while also infusing the character with his own personal charisma. Fans have clamored for Glover to return to the yellow and blue galactic get-up since 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story , and it looks like they're finally getting their wish.

CONFIRMATION

LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy announced a new series focused on Lando Calrissian will be coming to Disney+. The show is officially titled Lando and is being touted as an “event-series.”

There was no mention of Donald Glover's involvement in the project, but Kennedy confirmed filmmaker Justin Simien is in the "early stages" of developing the project.

WHAT THIS MEANS

Lando is BACK!

It is currently unclear when the series will take place and whether it will be Donald Glover or Billy Dee Williams portraying the title character. Once we get confirmation on either a casting or a time period, the details of the show will become a lot clearer. The show is in the early stages of development, and considering we received release date announcements for other new Star Wars titles, this show likely won't land on the streaming service for at least a few years.

Let's talk about that “event series” quote.

This is the first time Disney has announced a new project as such. Because of the idea that it is an event, Lando will likely be a limited series contained to one season. Details on the show are very scarce, so all we can really do is speculate at this point.

Lando is currently without a release date but is due to stream on Disney+ in the future.
