Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to finish the current MCU trilogy of Tom Holland's web-slinger, but Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have already confirmed that another one will be on the way. Not much is known about this trilogy, but Holland did reveal that Peter Parker is heading to college in the MCU threequel, thus cementing the idea that the next three-parter would revolve around that time.

A new trilogy means a fresh storyline and characters. No Way Home's consequences will likely be felt in this upcoming trio of Spider-Man films, allowing Peter to grow even more.

One of the prime candidates to be featured in the next wave of films is Harry Osborn, Peter's best friend from the comics and the son of Norman Osborn aka Green Goblin. In Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies, Harry was portrayed by James Franco while Dane DeHaan played the character in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

As the MCU moves forward with its own Spider-Man narrative, one lingering piece in the web-slinging puzzle is the actor who will portray Harry Osborn. Now, it looks like No Way Home's main trio has a fan-favorite choice in mind for the role.

Timothée Chalamet as Harry Osborn?

Spider-Man: No Way Home stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon sat down with AP Entertainment to reveal the role that they had in mind for Dune's Timothée Chalamet.

Chalamet is best known for his role as Paul Atreides in Dune and his upcoming portrayal of a young Willy Wonka in 2023's Wonka

Zendaya first mentioned that fans want Chalamet to be the MCU's Harry Osborn, pointing out that he would be a good friend or foe of Spider-Man. Holland agreed with Zendaya, saying that it would be ideal to introduce him as the web-slinger's friend first "then he kind of becomes bad."

The amusing exchange of the trio can be seen below:

Zendaya: "I don't know. People want him to be Harry Osborn. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. He’d be a good Harry Osborn. He would be a good friend of Spider-Man or foe of Spider-Man."

Tom: "I think it would be good to bring him in as a FOS (friend of Spider-Man) and then he kind of becomes bad. And then he could be a villain. He’d be a good villain.”

Zendaya: "Which is funny because he's so nice."

Tom & Jacob: "Yeah."

Tom: "I think what we're saying is he would start out as our gang member and then we would have to kick him out of the gang."

Jacob: "And then he would turn evil because we kicked him out the friend group."

Tom: "Maybe that's what it is. Maybe he comes for MJ, and I'll be like, 'Woah, Harry, watch where you're moving around my girlfriend.'"

Zendaya: "That's adorable."

The MCU's Harry Osborn Could Arrive Soon

Many would agree that Timothée Chalamet would be a welcome addition to the MCU, and getting the blessing of No Way Home's main trio should be an added boost for his campaign.

It's also worth pointing out that Chalamet was a fan of No Way Home's final trailer, with him admitting that he "cannot wait for that movie."

It would be fitting if Chalamet was given a chance to portray Harry Osborn, especially after failing to nab the Peter Parker role during his initial Marvel audition. The Dune actor revealed at the 2018 Los Angeles Film Critics Associated Awards that he auditioned to play the MCU's web-slinger in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, but the role ultimately fell to Tom Holland.

It is unknown how No Way Home will end, but fans have theorized that Doctor Strange's spell could be successful, thus erasing MJ and Ned's memories of Peter as Spider-Man. This could hint that Peter would opt to leave them out of his life for their safety, allowing him to have a fresh start in college.

This could be where Harry would show up, mirroring his appearance in the comics. Harry is Peter's best friend, but he ultimately becomes one of Spider-man's greatest enemies due to his transition as the New Goblin.

The complex friendship of Peter and Harry has been featured several times in Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy and Andrew Garfield's The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but the MCU version of their dynamic could be different.

Whatever the case, it's safe to assume that Harry Osborn's MCU debut could arrive sooner rather than later.
