Much mystery surrounds the story of the WandaVision series, now set to debut on Disney+ earlier than previously anticipated this year. The series is confirmed to take place after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame , which saw Wanda Maximoff’s Scarlet Witch tragically lose her romantic partner Vision. Wanda will seemingly be grieving her loss in a unique way in the series, as concept art and a promotional photo have shown Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision in an intriguing 50’s-era sitcom-inspired setting. To add to this strangeness, a diverse group of familiar faces will be making their MCU return in the show, including Randall Park’s Jimmy Woo and Kat Dennings’ Darcy. If these eyebrow-raising elements of the show are not enough to build fans’ intrigue, a newly-surfaced video appears to hint at another actor’s reprisal of their MCU character in the show.
RUMOR
A new video shows child actor Nick Fisher auditioning for the “WandaVision” series. The audition tape, which was originally shared by Daniel RPK on Twitter , features Fisher reading lines and acting out a scene for the upcoming Disney+ show.
Based on the lines that Fisher is reading, it appears that he is auditioning for the role of either Wiccan or Speed, both children of Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch in the comics. A particular line said by Fisher in the audition tape, occurring at the 0:50 mark, mentions “an uncle” of Wanda’s child. One can speculate that this line is a reference to Pietro Maximoff / Quicksilver, the only known sibling of Wanda Maximoff in the MCU.
WHAT THIS MEANS
Before fans begin to get too excited about Quicksilver finally returning to the MCU after 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron , it’s important to take a step back to assess this new information. Regarding this video actually being an audition tape for WandaVision , there are a few signs that point to its validity. The video was uploaded to Vimeo in October, which was around the time when the series was casting young actors for the role of Wiccan and Speed. Also, in the tape itself, the child actor mentions the Halloween season. This falls in line with rumors and set photos that show the series having a Halloween flair for at least one of the episodes. Because of these two points, it is safe to presume that this video is actually a WandaVision audition tape.
However, one must still keep in mind that this video is by no means confirmation of Quicksilver’s return in WandaVision . Many times, the lines of dialogue that are written for audition tapes like these are not taken from the show’s script. Rather, a separate piece of dialogue is written for the character being auditioned for, which still aligns with the spoken thoughts that the character will have in the show. This could very well be the case for this video. Nonetheless, a mention of “an uncle” is an oddly-specific reference to include in an audition tape like this one, so this small detail may certainly hint at Aaron-Taylor Johnson’s Quicksilver making his MCU comeback.
