Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi

After kicking off the year with the final six chapters of The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting Lucasfilm's second Disney+ show of 2022 in Obi-Wan Kenobi. This series is chock full of classic Star Wars characters thanks to Ewan McGregor's long-awaited return and a deep look back into the franchise's extensive history. At this point, it seems the only thing on fans' minds is the much-anticipated first trailer.

Over 10 months ago, McGregor became the leading man in front of an all-star Kenobi cast, none being more prominent than Hayden Christensen in his return as Darth Vader. Mixing comeback players like Joel Edgerton alongside newcomers such as Kumail Nanjiani from Eternals, this series has the opportunity to add something epic to the Star Wars legacy.

With the show about two and a half months from debuting, fans have gotten antsy about when the first Obi-Wan footage would debut to the public.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Gets First Full Trailer

Star Wars released the first official trailer for Lucasfilm's Obi-Wan Kenobi, which will begin streaming on Disney+ on May 25.

Master Kenobi Returns to Action on Disney+

While this trailer did a great job of keeping the show's many secrets, it equally impressed at teasing what fans are in for with McGregor's first Star Wars project in nearly two decades.

In terms of quick shots, fans saw McGregor's battle-weary Jedi on Tatooine looking after a young Luke Skywalker, who was seen alluding to his time as a pilot at Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru's house. This came along with a full shot of Joel Edgerton in his return as Uncle Owen as the universe faces the prospect of a rising Empiric power shift.

And then, there's the live-action introduction of the Inquisitors - force-sensitive Jedi hunters fully armed with their own spinning lightsabers and no regard for casualties.

Moses Ingram and Rupert Friend took most of the spotlight in the action, with Friend's Grand Inquisitor holding nothing back in his hunt for Obi-Wan. The trailer teased how the Jedi warriors' "compassion leaves a trail," which the Inquisitors will use to try to eliminate the galaxy's most staunch defenders.

In terms of what the trailer didn't show, Lucasfilm is keeping Christensen's return as Darth Vader under wraps along with numerous other cast members and their roles.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May 25.
