MCU: New Data Reveals Hawkeye Debut Performed Worse Than WandaVision & Loki

Hawkeye, WandaVision, Loki, Disney Plus

It's been quite the year for Marvel Studios. 2021 was the first year for the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Disney+, an expansion that fleshed out its world to an insane degree. The year saw the release of WandaVisionThe Falcon and the Winter SoldierLokiWhat If...?, and Hawkeye. That's far more than the usual 2-3 movies a year.

It's becoming the new normal for fans, and there's certainly a lot more to keep up with these days. However, it doesn't seem to be stopping fans from tuning into whatever adventures Marvel puts out there in the world.

Marvel's first show, WandaVision, was immensely successful and even won a couple of Emmys for their work. Tom Hiddleston's Loki hit an entirely different level of success when it hit the service, becoming the most viewed Disney+ series to date.

This begs the question: how does Hawkeye compare so far?

How Does Hawkeye Compare to WandaVision or Loki?

SambaTV, a third-party researcher, released new information as to how Hawkeye's opening episodes performed compared to the other MCU Disney+ shows this year.

According to them, 1.5 million U.S. households watched Hawkeye's first episode of the series in its five-day debut. This isn't a bad number, but it is noteworthy that it is lower than the premieres of all the other live-action Marvel shows on the service.

WandaVision's debut played in 1.6 million U.S. households while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's premiere accounted for 1.8 million U.S. households in their respective 5-day spans, per Samba TV. Loki blew all the MCU series out of the water, drawing a whopping 2.5 million households in the United States in its first five days.

Hawkeye Misses The Mark, Loki Gets the Win

Before one even starts to think that this means Hawkeye is a miss, one of Marvel's most talked-about shows, WandaVision, was only slightly behind Clint and Kate's debut. The show is plenty successful, though not everyone can be Tom Hiddleston.

There's a good chance viewership will skyrocket over the next week or two. For one, the show still has to introduce Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova into the fray.

The character was last seen in Black Widow being assigned by Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Val to assassinate Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton. No doubt, it's going to be a tense and emotional showdown.

There's also the matter of the Kingpin rumors, which, if true, could potentially blow up the internet.

Hawkeye airs weekly on Disney+ every Wednesday.
