Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is only a short time away from releasing in theaters, already set to change the MCU landscape as magical mayhem ensues in this sequel. Tilda Swinton’s Ancient One teased how vast the Multiverse truly was in both 2016’s Doctor Strange and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and now, that vastness will be fully shown in Benedict Cumberbatch’s second solo adventure.
With just under a couple of weeks until fans see what this movie brings, Marvel Studios has ramped up its efforts for Doctor Strange 2's promotional tour to push the hype train forward. As fans get ready for potentially Endgame-level reveals and surprises in this massive solo movie, new footage and interviews provide more clues about what will hit the big screen.
Doctor Strange and others will have to take on bigger leadership roles in this sequel as the foremost experts on magic, especially with the Ancient One having been killed more than five years ago in real-time. Now, Marvel is utilizing one of her most poignant statements from that movie to help build anticipation for what will add to the growing MCU narrative.
Ancient One Narrates Doctor Strange 2 Footage
Marvel Studios released a new 21-second promo for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which will debut in theaters on May 6.
The clip starts off with shots of the movie's core cast of characters as Tilda Swinton's Ancient One says "This universe is only one of an infinite number, Mr. Strange." This audio pieces together a couple of her quotes from the original Doctor Strange, as the former Sorcerer Supreme teases what's coming in this new Multiversal sequel, including new footage throughout.
Benedict Wong's Wong watches Xochitl Gomez's America Chavez demonstrate her powers as she punches a star into the air, opening one of her Multiversal portals.
Chavez then falls through another portal into a fiery landscape filled with rocky formations surrounding her. Fans even get a potential glimpse at the Living Tribunal looking at the heroine as she falls through the air.
Chavez falls through another area alongside Strange - one filled with crystallized blue formations and giant pathways throughout.
Wanda Maximoff stands in an enormous enclosed area with gold and red coloring throughout. This could come from Strange's magic, or it could be something that Wanda is forming in her own head.
Wong brandishes some kind of magical sword as the blade forms out of the handle. The Sorcerer Supreme is ready for battle as he goes against the alien monster Gargantos.
Benedict Cumberbatch's Defender Strange shows off some of his own magical abilities, these coming with a bright blue hue as he shoots the energy from his hands. This is one of three Strange Variants seen in this trailer along with Prime Strange and Sinister Strange.

Doctor Strange Promo Dives Into Multiverse
The Ancient One isn't expected to play a role in Doctor Strange 2 after Kaecillius killed her in the original film, but her influence remains strong with regard to what the sorcerers at Kamar-Taj face in this sequel. Doctor Strange and Wong will have to take on multiple universes' worth of allies and enemies alike, all while trying to keep the very fabric of reality from coming apart at the seams.
As for the new footage, fans get a look at just how many magical effects will be utilized through this film with a handful of powerful players in key roles throughout the plot. With multiple dimensions and realms ready to make their impact on the prime MCU, the sequel's core cast will have to tap into all of their combined strength to protect everyone in their own universe.
Although there won't be another full trailer for Doctor Strange 2 in the coming days, footage like this does its job by keeping the latest Marvel Studios outing at the forefront of fans' minds.
