Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness seems poised to reveal tons of surprises as it unravels the Multiverse like never before. The upcoming MCU sequel's use of alternate realities has led many to believe that it will showcase a plethora of cameos similar to what other crossover films like Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home did.

Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch previously commented on how the sequel will match No Way Home's performance, saying that if the film “brings off the level of ambition" it exudes, then their movie will “have a success on the level of Spidey.”

Reports also emerged that the social media embargo timeline for Multiverse of Madness will be similar to Infinity War and Endgame, which is close to its worldwide premiere. This means that Marvel Studios is going all-in to prevent spoilers from leaking, suggesting that there are massive surprises that are in the cards.

Now, a new rumor has emerged that could shed some light on the sequel's surprises.

Movie insider John Campea shared unconfirmed details about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ahead of the film's May 6 release.

Campea first revealed that he received an email from one of his sources saying that the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel will not be part of the screening at this year's CinemaCon in order to maintain the sequel's secrets:

"Yesterday, I got an email. What I was basically told was this. I cannot say who this is from. But it [said], ‘Yeah, they’re not going to be screening Doctor Strange 2 during CinemaCon.’ Sorry to tell everybody that, it’s guaranteed that they are not going to show Doctor Strange 2 during CinemaCon."

The pundit then pointed out that a key line from the email mentioned that there are more big surprises in Multiverse of Madness than Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home combined:

"In the email, they went on to say this, they said, ‘There’s more security [for this movie] blah blah blah.’ But the key line was this: ‘There are more big surprises in Doctor Strange 2 than in Infinity War, Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home combined.’"

Doctor Strange 2: A Spoiler-Filled Sequel

Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: No Way Home all have one thing in common: they have moments that earned wild reactions from fans inside the theater. If this rumor is true, then it means that Multiverse of Madness will have those same moments while trying to take it up a notch with more cameos potentially.

The Doctor Strange sequel's use of the Multiverse is the project's significant advantage over the two Avengers films, mainly because it provides an opportunity to include characters from previous movies such as X-Men and Fantastic Four

Even though No Way Home incorporated alternate realities into its narrative, it was purely confined to the different Spider-Man universes. Multiverse of Madness will be unique since it is not confined to a specific universe, allowing more Marvel characters to have surprise appearances at some point in the movie.

All in all, Multiverse of Madness is shaping up to be an ambitious project that is ready to take the MCU to the next level.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to premiere in theaters on May 6.
