Ever since WandaVision was announced, it was known that not only would Elizabeth Olsen return after the series, but the events of the Disney+ show would directly lead into, and set up, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It was a pretty big deal, not to mention how it was unheard of at the time is was for miniseries to directly pave the way for a big blockbuster film. Now, Benedict Cumberbatch’s next adventure is a week away, and fans will soon be able to see what exactly the teased payoff will be.

While the set-up from WandaVision may not have been as direct as many would have wanted, i.e., Doctor Strange himself showing up in some capacity, everything that happened in Westview will clearly be extremely important to everything going down in Multiverse of Madness. After all, Wanda can be seen practicing magic from the Darkhold, the questionable mystical book of power she received from Agatha Harkness, by the end of the finale.

Now a new featurette has been released by Disney that showcases what the connection between the upcoming movie and the hit 2021 series will look like.

Wanda Gets the Spotlight

Disney released a new featurette for Marvel Studios' upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness focused on Elizabeth Olsen's return as Wanda Maximoff in the upcoming film.

The promo features a specific focus on how the movie will honor and reference WandaVision, whose events play a big part in Wanda's motivations in the upcoming film. Many previous clips from the show are screened, but fans will also catch some new glimpses of her children in what seems to be an alternate reality to her own.

Wanda can be seen flying out of her house, probably belonging to an alternate version of herself and her family; no doubt she could be worked up about something.

Elizabeth Olsen's hero wakes up in her bed. Is she controlling an alternate Wanda? Or actually in the alternate universe herself?

The most shocking part of the promo was certainly when the Scarlet Witch decided to break the fourth wall and stare at everyone watching from home.

The Lost WandaVision Family

In the post-credits scene for WandaVision, Scarlet Witch can be seen practicing from the Darkhold. More importantly, however, thanks to some audio queues, it's clear she is looking for her lost children.

This featurette makes it clear how that’s a prime concern of hers in the upcoming movie. But how destructive will her quest for her family be?

Could she end up coming into these alternate timelines and completely destroying their livelihoods all because she wasn’t able to have it? Her quest for the children she lost could end up costing multiple Wanda’s throughout the Multiverse everything.

Hopefully, by the time the credits roll, Doctor Strange will be able to talk some sense into her.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.
