Sebastian Stan Was Terrified of Chadwick Boseman Fight Scenes In Captain America: Civil War

Bucky Barnes, The Winter Soldier, MCU

One of the biggest and most emotional scenes in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was arguably Bucky's one scene in Wakanda: the moment he was freed of his HYDRA corruption. It was a powerful moment played spectacularly by Sebastian Stan.

With Bucky having spent so much time in Wakanda during his recovery, fans never got to see a lot of those moments. So, it was great to be able to get even a glimpse of what he went through.

With all of that, as audiences learned while watching the show, Bucky clearly established a relationship with Wakanda. This relationship not only helped bring down Zemo in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier but also got Sam his new Captain America suit.

When will audiences see that relationship explored again? And, is Sebastian Stan open to be a part of more Wakanda-based stories?

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Bucky Barnes actor Sebastian Stan was asked if being a part of further Wakanda stories was something that he would want to do.

Of course, Stan wasted no time responding with an enthusiastic "absolutely:"

"Absolutely. I mean, just like thinking about it now with the whole Chadwick [Boseman] thing is just so crazy. With him, I was always really enamored because I remember on that Civil War movie we met and he had come in and he was new and it's sort of the introduction of his character. And I was like, 'Oh my God, this guy is going to blow everyone away.'"

Stan went on to praise the late Chadwick Boseman's time on Captain America: Civil War, in which Stan was apparently "terrified of going into...scenes with him:"

You know what I mean? There was such a commitment and dedication to everything he was doing. It was just so crazy. And we had a lot of these fight sequences and I remember being terrified of going into those scenes with him. And we went for it. We really went for it. Because I was like, 'Okay, he's really showing up. I got to stand tall. I got to show up.' And then afterwards we would just do these little fist bumps, like, 'Cool, we're good.'"

Even after the movie was filmed, Stan and Boseman had a good time on the press tour, with Stan exclaiming that "it was really cool:"

Then, after we shot, I spent some time, a little bit, when we would tease each other on these press tours and we would be laughing. It was really cool.

THE FUTURE IS WAKANDA

It's great that Sebastian Stan seems so excited about the opportunity to play a part in future Wakanda stories. Especially given the focus that relationship got in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it seems basically a given that it will pop up again sometime in the future.

All-in-all, that means that Bucky Barnes may even show up in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Of course, there's no hard evidence for this yet, but that would be the obvious next place for a Wakanda story that might have a place for Bucky.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is already shaping up to be a massive film. In fact, it was just rumored that fans would be seeing Namor come to life for the first time in the sequel.

Namor is a character that many fans have wanted to see come to life for a long time. Maybe Wakanda will call in aid from Bucky during their inevitable conflict with Atlantis.
