Although Black Adam has been left without a release date due to delays at Warner Bros., news has continued to come out about the film's development.
Several actors have joined the cast of Black Adam, including Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Sarah Shahi as a professor in Kahndaq. A few villains have also been rumored to appear, such as the supervillain Sabbac portrayed by Aladdin's Marwan Kenzari. The villain Eclipso has also been rumored, who could play a pivotal role in imprisoning Black Adam.
The Illuminerdi previously reported that the Golden Age hero Ma Hunkel was rumored to appear in Black Adam, appearing as a caretaker to Hawkman. Cyclone is a character related to Ma Hunkel and is confirmed to appear in the film, though has yet to receive an official casting.
A new rumor has now emerged, with details of two potential candidates to portray Cyclone in Black Adam...
According to The Illuminerdi, Transformers: The Last Knight's Isabel Moner and singer-songwriter Leslie Grace are two actresses being eyed for the role of Cyclone in Black Adam.
WHAT THIS MEANS
These rumored actresses suggest that Cyclone will be a different take than is traditionally seen in the Justice Society of America comics. Maxine Hunkel seems to have been racebended to a Latinx character, which falls in line with changes seen to Aldis Hodge's Hawkman and the rumored transgender character Ma Hunkel.
Though she is the younger of the two prospective actresses, Isabela Moner has already had a fair share of experience working in big Hollywood blockbusters, having already headlined Transformers: The Last Knight, Instant Family, and Dora and the Lost City of Gold. Having this under her belt may put her over the edge of Grace, as she has already proven that she has the staying power to lead a film and can hold her own alongside big names like Mark Wahlberg. Her filmography also demonstrates the range that Moner possesses, able to contribute to action scenes whilst still having the ability to play an emotional scene.
Leslie Grace would be a complete newcomer to the film industry should she land this role. Grace does seem to have on-screen confidence though, proven from her musical prowess and collaborations with Colgate. Because of this, Warner Bros. may opt for an entirely new talent in Grace, who still possesses the necessary skills to portray Cyclone well.
Cyclone will appear as part of the JSA in Black Adam, which is currently without an official release date.
