Doctor Doom won't be going into battle with nothing but his fits when he picks a fight with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Avengers: Doomsday. Already, the movie's marketing has teased that the villain will utilize a healthy dose of magic in his latest live-action appearance, having a spellbook at his disposal that's sure to rival the Darkhold, which gave Stephen Strange a run for his money in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

If taking control of the multiverse were as easy as opening to a specific page, there wouldn't be much need for a whole movie about Doom's campaign. Doomsday's near three-hour runtime will likely be filled with the pieces that set up Robert Downey Jr.'s character for success, much like Avengers: Infinity War, which focused on Thanos' hunt for the Infinity Stones.

At this point, it's hard to get a lock on what Doom needs. Marvel Studios continues to keep its cards close to the vest, wanting to ensure as many secrets stay locked up as possible. However, Kevin Feige and Co. aren't the only ones marketing the movie. Merchandise continues to flood the internet ahead of Doomsday's December release date, including a statue that says a lot while showing very little.

Sideshow Collectibles recently revealed its limited-edition Doctor Doom statue that features the Latverian monarch sitting on his throne. It doesn't come with many accessories, but the two that do accompany it seem rather important. The first is the aforementioned spellbook, while the second is a mystery object described as "the Key."

The Key comes attached to one of Doom's detachable hands, making it clear that it's something he holds near and dear to his heart. The latest teaser for Doomsday pours fuel on that fire, as it appears to show Doom losing possession of the item when he gets thrown out of a window. But that's all there is to go on. All the blanks regarding the Key still have to be filled.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though, because now there's room for speculation. A few different items across the Marvel Universe could become the apple of Doom's eye and serve him as well as the Infinity Gauntlet did for Thanos.

Marvel Weapons That Doctor Doom Could Acquire In Avengers: Doomsday

Zodiac Key

The most dangerous key in the Marvel Universe is easily the Zodiac Key. Created in the Ankh Dimension, it serves as an endless energy source and bestows incredible powers on its user, including teleportation and energy blasts. But it also has a mind of its own, which makes it tricky for a villain to use.

An artifact that looked like the Zodiac Key appeared in the Broker's shop in Guardians of the Galaxy. Since the movie didn't confirm what it was, Avengers: Doomsday could theoretically introduce its own version. After all, it's going to take a lot of energy to rewrite the multiverse, and the Zodiac Key can supply it.

Ultimate Nullifier

As soon as Doom's Key was revealed by Sideshow, posts flooded social media with claims that it had to be the Ultimate Nullifier. Created by one of the Watchers, the small device is capable of wiping anything it wants off the map, including an entire universe. The Fantastic Four has crossed paths with the Ultimate Nullifier several times and always considers it a last resort in conflict.

Reed Richards and Doom's interaction in the latest Doomsday footage isn't a comfortable one, as the former berates the latter for something he did. Maybe Doom pulled out the Ultimate Nullifier and wiped out a planet right in front of Reed, driving a wedge between the two.

Key To The Library Of Worlds

As Loki revealed, some places exist outside of time and space in the MCU. Marvel Comics has its fair share, such as the Library of Worlds, which can only be opened with Great Keys. Anyone who accesses the Library can travel through the multiverse with ease. And it just so happens that Doom spent time there in the lead-up to Jonathan Hickman's Secret Wars comic.

With Doomsday and its sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, taking inspiration from Hickman's work, it wouldn't be surprising to see the Library of Worlds make an appearance. Doom can't just walk into the building, though, so he'll have to locate a key first.

TVA Key

The Time Variance Authority's headquarters sort of acts like the Library of Worlds in the MCU. TVA agents can use devices to travel across the multiverse and prune timelines. Now that Loki's in charge, there's less pruning going on. Still, the point stands: the TVA is vital to everything and everyone.

Loki appears briefly in the latest look at Doomsday. Since he's currently serving as the protector of the multiverse, he might have put up roadblocks that villains like Doom have to get around. A key could be the only thing standing between Doom and what he believes is his destiny.
