At this point, there are so many DCEU cast members returning for the reshoots of Zack Snyder’s Justice League - e ven some who weren’t even in the movie’s original cut - that it only makes sense for news outlets to check in on the matter with as many actors in the franchise as possible. And that’s exactly what Man of Steel's Zod actor Michael Shannon was asked about in a recent interview.

NEWS

While speaking with ComicBook.com , Shannon shared his thoughts on potentially returning to play Zod for Zack Snyder's reshoots for his Justice League mini-series on HBO Max.

"Oh, I'd love to work with Zack again. I loved doing that movie. It was a special experience. I felt very fortunate that he called me to do it in the first place. So, I haven't heard anything. I don't know. I always tell people I'm dead. Zod's dead, he's dead. Unless you got a defibrillator or something I don't really see it happening. But, I love Zack and I'm happy for him that, that he's getting to do that."

WHAT THIS MEANS

As of now, it seems safe to say that Shannon is very unlikely to be in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which makes sense considering Zod died back in Man of Steel and had a brief cameo in Batman v. Superman . However, there may still be a small chance of a return considering scenes taking place within flashbacks are always a possibility. Additionally, the fact that Snyder is bringing in characters who weren’t in the original cut at all, like Jared Leto’s Joker, adds a small amount chance that Shannon could appear in the new cut.

Even though a Zod return doesn’t seem to be in the cards for this new cut of Justice League , Shannon is clearly open to the possibility of working with the director again in the future. If this film goes over well, we may very well see Snyder direct another DCEU movie, so it’s possible we could see Shannon return to play Zod in that or see the duo reunite for a non-DCEU project.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is scheduled to hit HBO Max in 2021.
