WandaVision Star Casts Doubt on Thor 4 Appearance

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has kicked off Phase 4, with a handful of characters returning after previous appearances in the Infinity Saga. This includes both of the titular stars of WandaVisionElizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, as well as a mix of supporting characters from three unique franchises that helped build Phases 1-3.

Episode 4 of WandaVision put these returning supporting stars in the spotlight, as Monica Rambeau returned to her position as S.W.O.R.D. captain after The Blip. While checking out the Westview anomaly, she joined forces with Jimmy Woo in his second MCU appearance and Darcy Lewis in her third.

Kat Dennings’ return as Darcy has already been celebrated by fans as one of the best parts of last week’s episode. However, recent news may put her future past WandaVision into doubt.

NO DARCY IN LOVE AND THUNDER

In a new interview with IGN, WandaVision star Kat Dennings revealed that she doesn’t know if she will be in the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder. Although she said “I have not gotten a call,” she seems happy to return to the role in the fourth Thor movie if asked:

"Well, I have not gotten a call so I kind of doubt it since they’re shooting it right now so probably not, but anything Marvel ever asks of me the answer’s always yes."

WILL MARVEL CALL IN THE DOCTOR?

Kat Dennings shined in her role as Darcy Lewis in 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, serving as an intern to Jane Foster and Dr. Erik Selvig. Their work clearly inspired her to change her own path, leading her to earn a doctorate in astrophysics before the events of WandaVision.

After she and Natalie Portman were notably absent from 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, it’s still a mystery whether she will come back for an appearance next to the God of Thunder. Portman is set to become the Mighty Thor in this next cosmic adventure, but with such a loaded cast around her and Chris Hemsworth, Darcy’s place amongst them is a little uncertain.

Thor: Love and Thunder will also bring back the Guardians of the Galaxy, before their 2023 solo film, as well as Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif. Marvel Studios clearly thinks highly of Dennings, bringing her back in Phase 4’s debut project, so hopefully, she’ll find a place back in her original franchise.

For now, Dennings can be seen in WandaVision, whose first four episodes are available to stream on Disney+, with Episode 5 will premiering on Friday, February 5.
