Several images from the book have been released , including those of Mace Windu, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker and Asajj Ventress. New pictures have even provided close-up looks for blades that were obscured in their source material, including Leia Organa's lightsaber from The Rise of Skywalker .

Two new lightsaber blades have been revealed from the book, both being from characters who are relatively new to the Star Wars franchise...

In a recent report from SyFy , new images from The Lightsaber Collection have been released, providing new looks at the blades of some of the more recent characters to have been added to the galaxy.

One of these is a close up look at Ben Solo's lightsaber, seen briefly in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi:

It is also accompanied by a brief description and history of the blade, recounting events seen in The Last Jedi . Also pictured is a new illustrated character portrait, capturing the likeness of Adam Driver as Ben Solo.

"The only child of Han Solo and Leia Organa, Ben Solo undergoes training at Luke Skywalker's Jedi academy in the years following the Empire's defeat. Yet despite his love for his nephew, Luke can sense a terrible darkness in Ben's future. Alarmed by his Force premonition, Luke ignites his lightsaber while Ben sleeps. Accounts differ on what happens next, but Ben interprets his uncle's actions as an attack and lashes out in response. By doing so, Ben is utterly consumed by the dark side.

Ben Solo's lightsaber is depicted only briefly in Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi and show to have a blue energy blade. Closer inspection of the hilt reveals notable similarities to the red blade crossguard lightsaber wielded by Ben after he reinvents himself as Kylo Ren. In truth, Ben's saber and the crystal within become the structural basis for Kylo's fire-blackened broadsword.

The finned grips on the hilt of Ben's saber are similar to those found on Darth Vader's lightsaber, but with additional flaring at the base. With geometric lines and squared-off corners, Ben's lightsaber shows a similar style to his mother Leia's saber, and almost resembles a medieval watchtower when stood on end."

Also featured is the blade of the one of the Inquisitors from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, The Second Sister:

The Second Sister's double-bladed saber is also accompanied by a short biography of the character and a description of the weapon itself. Note that this description does contain some spoilers from Jedi: Fallen Order .

During the Clone Wars, Jedi Padawan Trilla Suduri serves her apprenticeship under Cere Junda, a Jedi Knight. The Empire captures both of them after Order 66 and subjects them to torture in an effort to break their spirits. Trilla Suduri succumbs, surrendering herself to the dark side and becoming the Second Sister.

Elizabeth Grullón voices the character for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and performs performance capture for her gestures and mannerisms. The Second Sister becomes a serious threat to player character Cal Kestis in this game, but also seeks revenge on her former Master, Cere Junda, whom she blames for her tragic fall.

The Second Sister carries an Inquistiorius lightsaber with a ring-shapped spinner that supports a pair of energy blade emitters. The silver ring is notable for its finned protrusions, and the central hilt has an indented grip. Indicator lights in the hilt and the blade emitters glow a dull crimson.

'We wanted to build thoughtful combat,' explained Fallen Order technical developer Brandon Kelch of the team's approach to battling enemies like the Second Sister. 'We didn't just want to build a button-masher where you charge in and spam one button and everything dies. We wanted something that was more methodical and thoughtful'"

WHAT THIS MEANS

These new images provide good looks at lightsaber blades that may been difficult to see properly beforehand. Ben Solo's lightsaber was barely seen in the few brief flashbacks to his encounter with his uncle Luke Skywalker. The Second Sister's Inquistorius lightsaber is frequently seen in Jedi: Fallen Order , but it is often obscured due to the game's frantic combat encounters.

It is interesting to see these lightsabers up close, particularly how Kylo Ren's lightsaber looks prior to its transformation into the now iconic crossguard lightsaber. This also shows that the guide will be featuring lightsabers from an assortment of Star Wars media, with the description of the book teasing the appearance of a blade exclusive to the High Republic.

More lightsabers from across the galaxy will be unveiled when The Lightsaber Collection releases this Fall.
