Every Star Wars fan with a Disney+ subscription is likely feverishly anticipating Lucasfilm's upcoming series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. The show will see the return of fan-favorite Ewan McGregor as his most well-known character. Also reprising a role from the Prequel Trilogy of Star Wars is Hayden Christensen, who will presumably be donning the fearsome black armor of Darth Vader.

Picking up 10 years post-Revenge of the SithKenobi will see the legendary Jedi Master in exile on Tatooine watching over the young Luke Skywalker. It's unlikely that Obi-Wan himself will spend the entirety of the series' six episodes on the arid, desert world, as the narrative is sure to bring him off-planet. Additionally, there are rumors of flashbacks within the series, primarily to the storied Clone Wars era, in which Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker fought alongside clone troopers against the Separatist army.

With so many plot elements likely to be occurring in the show and several rumors of returning, established Star Wars characters, the news that a certain other Jedi Master's appearance could be in the cards should come as no surprise.

Could Qui-Gon Finally Make His Return?

A new rumor from Making Star Wars' Jason Ward (via Bespin Bulletin) claims that actor Liam Neeson will reprise his The Phantom Menace role as Qui-Gon Jinn in Obi-Wan Kenobi.

According to Ward: "I know Qui-Gon's in it. I don't know if he's a voiceover or if he's a physical ghost."

Bespin Bulletin, however, reported that their source states that Neeson will have an on-screen role.

"In Your Solitude on Tatooine, Training I Have for You."

Of course, Qui-Gon Jinn appearing in the Obi-Wan series makes a great deal of sense. Towards the end of 2005's Revenge of the Sith, the last time Ewan McGregor portrayed Kenobi, Yoda mentions to Obi-Wan that he will teach him how to reach Qui-Gon's spirit through the Force. And now, fans will be able to witness the reuniting of former master and apprentice if rumors hold true.

Neeson himself had previously reported that he was not asked to join Obi-Wan Kenobi but was nevertheless interested in appearing.

Liam Neeson has not been seen on screen as Qui-Gon since 1999. There were plans for him to appear as a Force ghost in Revenge of the Sith but that fell through. Neeson also voiced the character in the animated series, The Clone Wars as well as in Episode II: Attack of the Clones

Obi-Wan Kenobi will drop the first of its six episodes on May 25, 2022, exclusively on Disney+.
