For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the old Republic.

Before the dark times.

Before the Empire.

When audiences were first introduced to Obi-Wan Kenobi, little more was known about the old hermit than that he lived out beyond the Dune Sea. They eventually came to learn that Old Ben once fought in the Clone Wars, alongside Luke's father, opening imaginations to millions of minds over what the wise mentor's past may have looked like.

Decades later, Obi-Wan's story is widely seen as one of the greatest in Star Wars, a true journey of mentorship and brotherhood. The character is forced to live through so many devastating losses, but it's his strong and hopeful resolve that fans resonate with the most. It's always nice to have periodic reminders of how special the tales in Star Wars are, and a new video has dropped with an unexpectedly powerful depiction of the crazy old wizard's life...

The official Star Wars Kids YouTube channel has released a new Galaxy of Adventures short featuring Obi-Wan Kenobi:

WHAT THIS MEANS

For something posted to a YouTube page for kids, this short was surprisingly moving. Obi-Wan Kenobi had such a storied life, experiencing the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and seeing the flair of heroic determination in Old Ben at the culmination of his reflection was spine-tingling.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi live-action Disney+ series is set to begin filming in March , and this piece almost serves as a hype video that gets fans fired up. Ewan McGregor has said that he'll be donning his old costume for the show , a mental image that makes the series even harder to wait for.

Galaxy of Adventures is a series of shorts meant to introduce kids to the galaxy far, far away, but it's had just as big an impact on longtime fans as well. Seeing iconic moments depicted once again through this stellar animation is a reminder of why Star Wars resonates so much with all of us, and Obi-Wan's short is done in a way that's becoming of the iconic hero's legacy.
