The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been wrapped for quite a bit now, but it's no less fresh in everyone's mind. The show's exploration behind the legacy of that iconic shield has made a lasting impact. Not to mention, fans have a brand-new Captain America.
The show was met with mostly high critical and fan reception throughout its run. Sam and Bucky's adventure brought a lot of new elements to the MCU, many of which surprised fans. Among those is the introduction of Isaiah Bradley.
Bradley was given the Super Soldier Serum back in the time of Steve Roger's creation. However, instead of being welcomed into the fray, Bradley was cast out, beaten down, and experimented on. His experience as a black man receiving the serum is a harrowing one and a tale that provided the foundation for the key decisions that Sam Wilson made throughout the series.
Carl Lumbly brought the character of Isaiah Bradley to life, and he did a phenomenal job to boot. However, are fans going to see Lumbly take on the role again?
Lumbly has a fairly straightforward answer to that question.
WILL ISAIAH BRADLEY MAKE AN MCU RETURN?
In an interview with Comicbook.com, Carl Lumbly was asked if he would ever return as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Isaiah Bradley. Lumbly cleverly replied, "does the sun rise in the East?"
"Does the sun rise in the east? I would very much be very happy to explore that. I think, in so many ways, I’ve done so many explorations like this. I’ve had the opportunity to walk in any number of kinds of shoes that I wouldn’t walk in if I was just putting on my own, and that’s the joy of doing this work. So anytime I have an opportunity, I would love to."
ANOTHER CARL LUMBLY MCU OUTING SEEMS LIKELY
When Isaiah Bradley had his first scene, not only was it a shock, but Lumbly's performance was unbelievable. The impact of that one scene was more than many MCU moments had that came before it. It would be more surprising if Feige chose not to bring him back sooner rather than later.
Of course, the most likely choice for him to show up would be in the upcoming fourth Captain America film. While plot details are essentially non-existent thus far, simply the fact that Sam Wilson has such a close connection to Bradley makes it all but a necessity for him to come back into the fold.
That's not to mention Bradley's nephew, Eli, exists alongside him — character who happens to go on to become the superhero Patriot, one of the founding members of the Young Avengers. Needless to say, both of the Bradley's will probably be coming back to the MCU at some point—likely sooner rather than later.
