Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is an interactive exhibit that features MCU props and information to fans who want an up-close experience with one of the world's most beloved pop culture franchises. Initially opening in New York City and later moving to other cities like Paris and Las Vegas, the showcase has now made its way to the Toronto area.

The Direct was able to visit and preview Toronto's Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. prior to its COVID-19 caused closing this month. While exploring, we managed to find a few nuggets of information, including a detail about the Mad Titan which could give fans a clue about one of the MCU’s upcoming films.

According to a section of the Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. showcase, the MCU's Thanos has ties to the Eternals, a species of MCU characters that just so happens to have a self-titled movie set for release in 2021. Specifically, per in-universe intel provided by Thor, Thanos is "the last of an ancient and highly sophisticated species known throughout the universe as ‘The Eternals’."

“Thanos’ origin is said to be on Saturn’s largest moon, Titan, making him a Titanian in nature. It is rumored however that Thanos is the last of an ancient and highly sophisticated species known throughout the universe as ‘The Eternals’.”

WHAT THIS MEANS

Those who pay close attention to Marvel Comics may know that in the main version of the Marvel universe, Thanos was born to two Eternals named A’lars and Sui-San. While neither of these characters are known to be included in the upcoming Eternals film, another Eternal named Thena (played by Angelina Jolie) is Thanos’ cousin in the comics.

It's been speculated that Thanos' connection of the new-to-the-MCU Eternals could be a natural way for the latter to be introduced to the movie universe. However, this note at Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is the closest thing to an official source that has indicated this being a real possibility.

What may give us even more important insight into the potential plot of Eternals and its characters’ place in the MCU is that Thanos is referred to as “the last” of the species in the exhibit. Eternals is said to focus on the titular heroes who are incognito on Earth, and this note appears to match up with this narrative.

It’s also interesting to note that the file is said to have been written in-universe by Thor, and, if this matches up with canon, means that Thor and other Asgardians would have long been aware of the existence of Eternals. However, there is no indication whether the people of Earth are aware of the existence of the immortal beings.

Eternals is set for release on November 5, 2021.
