Marvel's Disney+ show Loki is gearing up to premiere to the masses. Obviously, fan's anticipation is at an all-time high, as is all the hype being pushed out by Marvel. How can an MCU fan not be excited?
The first Marvel project with the lead being in the hands of a villain, Tom Hiddleston's Loki is ready to pave the way—timelines be damned. The show is set to explore not only who Loki is at his core but also everything else he could have been. With different versions of himself set to make appearances such as Lady Loki,or Kid Loki, the show is going to be a trippy ride.
There are, of course, other characters besides Loki set to make an appearance. One of those said characters is Ravonna Renslayer, somebody who has key ties to the big upcoming MCU villain, Kang the Conqueror. But, how likely are fans to see any of their shared histories play out?
RENSLAYER'S ORIGIN...AND POTENTIAL FUTURE
In a virtual press conference for Marvel's upcoming Disney+ show Loki, actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw was asked if she ever got comic book research thrown at her for the character of Ravonna Renslayer, whom she would be bringing to life.
Mbatha-Raw mentioned that said despite comic lore, "there is also the opportunity to feel like I'm starting something fresh with the TVA:"
"Well, luckily or unluckily for me, Kate explained to me that this is more of an origin story for Ravonna Renslayer, predating some of the stuff in the comics. All that stuff is there but there is also the opportunity to feel like I'm starting something fresh with the TVA that hasn't been seen before by fans on the screen...there's so much potential for her in the future as well."
THE ROAD TO KANG THE CONQUEROR
With Ravonna Renslayer's very intricate and complex connection to Kang the Conqueror, it's clear that Mbatha-Raw is not only well aware of those tidbits of lore, but she is clearly teasing that potential future to play out on screen at some point in the future. Are fans in store for Renslayer's first meeting with Kang at some point within Loki? It's certainly a possibility.
While there is plenty of evidence that points to Kang showing up at some point in Loki before his Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania debut, fans will have to wait until the show finally releases. With a show so focused on time travel and other various timeline antics, it's arguably the perfect place to make Kang's existence known to the fans.
Signs are good that Loki is set to be another huge hit for Marvel Studios, especially with the critics. While a couple of days may not seem like a long wait, it certainly feels like quite the opposite.
In the meantime, why not check out some newly released scenes—or maybe check out the next Funko! Pops that may or may not be purchased.
