Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a Marvel Studios venture that people have been dying to see for years now. Initially set for release in 2020, audiences now won’t see their favorite band of misfits until May 5, 2023. The last time the crew graced movie screens was at the end of Avengers: Endgame, where Peter Quill and Thor couldn’t agree on leadership.

The dynamic between the two of them, and the entire team in general, was always a blast to watch unfold. The God of Thunder and the Guardians seemed like a match made in heaven based on their personalities.

Thor got to spend quality time with some of the crew during the events of Infinity War and Endgame, but it's a dynamic that fans are excited to see play out in future adventures.

The next time the group will be together is for Chris Hemsworth’s next solo outing in Thor: Love and Thunder. While the Guardians' roles in that may be small, it’ll at least be something. But what about Vol. 3? Will audiences still be able to enjoy their combined company?

There’s no way to know right now, but one fan on Twitter has an idea for Vol. 3's opener that would showcase the hilarious dynamic between Hemsworth and Chris Pratt. However, the film’s director James Gunn may disagree.

The Hope of A Guardian Dance-Off

On Twitter, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 director James Gunn responded to a fan suggestion regarding the opening of the film.

@DZevin7 tweeted that they would “love the intro of Guardians Vol 3 to be a dance-off between Starlord and Thor to Thunderstruck (AC/DC) for leadership of the Asgardians of the Galaxy.”

Gunn candidly responded that “It’s way way way too late.”

Another fan responded, asking if he thought it was an “amazing idea or not," though they noted it sounded great to them.

Gunn hysterically responded to them, saying: “I can say it does not.”

Twitter user @Meowdab jumped into the conversation, posing a “theory” that Gunn was just saying this so that when the film comes out, he could “[say] it was always going to be that opening.”

The director promised them that it was not the case, simply saying: “I promise you no.”

Then @AndrewGnash chimed in, pointing out that “Thunderstruck would’ve been released 2 years after Peter left Earth.”

Gunn’s final response in the discussion was to counter and remind everyone how Peter Quill “has a Zune” and put his foot down by declaring that the hypothetical dance-off “still isn’t going to happen.”

No Thor and Star-Lord Dance-Off in Vol. 3

While the fans’ suggestion for the film’s opening is admittedly quite silly, many still hope to see more of Hemsworth and Pratt together—along with the rest of the Guardians as well.

Maybe if Thor shows up in Vol. 3, he’ll be rocking his new golden and blue duds, eye-catching helmet and all. This is assuming the God of Thunder survives the end of Love and Thunder and is alive to partake in future shenanigans.

Based on what the next Guardians film is about, the group could definitely use help. They have Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock, the rumored main villain High Evolutionary, and the Sovereign to content with.

If there truly is no plan for the Avenger to crossover, It’s going to be interesting to see how Gunn will explain why the Guardians didn’t reach out for help. It sounds like a God is precisely what they need,
