The Arrowverse's Crisis on Infinite Earths event established the creation of the franchise's very own Justice League, but the team has yet to reunite since that series. However, this will all change as Grant Gustin's Barry Allen will need to seek assistance from Earth Prime's heroes in The Flash's upcoming Armageddon crossover event.
The Flash is already in Season 8, and the fresh batch of episodes will kick off with five new installments revolving around the threat of Despero (Tony Curran). Gustin's DC hero is confirmed to team up with a mixed lineup of Arrowverse heroes and even villains to stop the looming alien threat.
The confirmed list of DC characters that will be featured in the crossover includes the likes of Batwoman, the Atom, Mia Queen, and Reverse-Flash. Melissa Benoist's Supergirl and Tyler Hoechlin's Superman are the two notable omissions in the event, with the former set to bid her goodbye due to her show's final season.
Now, a special look at the crossover special has been released.
The Flash Teams Up with Arrowverse Heroes
The CW officially unveiled the brand new poster for The Flash's 5-part crossover event entitled Armageddon.
The poster features Grant Gustin's titular speedster, Candice Patton's Iris West, Brandon Routh's Atom, Javicia Leslie's Batwoman, Cress Williams' Black Lightning, Chyler Leigh's Sentinel, and Katherine McNamara's Mia Queen.
The poster can be seen below:
The Arrowverse's Justice League Unites
The latest poster highlights the current Justice League lineup within the Arrowverse. From Barry Allen to Alex Danvers, it appears that The Flash is bringing out key heroes to fight against Despero, but it seems that there will be more surprise appearances in the cards for the crossover event.
Armageddon also ties the length of Crisis On Infinite Earths when it comes to episode count, and this could allow more character appearances that could surprise fans.
It's possible that Tyler Hoechlin's Superman could swoop in at the last minute to help out the team, but many would agree that it would undermine the current lineup of heroes presented in the poster. For now, it looks like the combined might of Batwoman, Black Lightning, Atom & the rest of the heroes will be Earth Prime's defense against Despero.
The official trailer for Armageddon teased that Barry Allen would do "something impossible" to overcome Despero, but details about this plot point are still shrouded in secrecy. There's a chance that Flash enlists the assistance of these specific heroes for his grand strategy against Despero, leaving out powerhouses like Superman and Martian Manhunter to potentially gain an advantage over the alien threat.
It's also possible that Despero will use some kind of technology to prevent other aliens from interfering with his invasion, thus forcing Flash to gather his non-alien allies instead.
Whatever the case, many would agree that it's always a visual treat whenever Arrowverse heroes gather and unite against a common enemy.
The first part of the 5-episode crossover of The Flash will premiere on The CW on November 16, 2021.
