Marvel Studios' first Disney+ series WandaVision is quickly building towards its climactic finale, which also means the premiere of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is right around the corner.

Following over a year of no new MCU content with nothing releasing in 2020, Marvel is beginning a packed 2021 with four films currently lined up to release, along with six new Disney+ series in the universe. The massive amount of interconnected content coming for fans means there will barely be a week this year with nothing new.

A new trailer for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier debuted at the Super Bowl to record-breaking numbers, meaning anticipation for the series is at an all-time high. While specific plot details remain elusive, the series will see the debut of U.S Agent as the new government-appointed Captain America, and likely Sam Wilson's rival for the mantle.

Additionally, fans can look forward to the return of past Captain America characters including Sharon Carter, and Baron Zemo coming back as the main antagonist. These returning characters have seen relatively limited screen time in the previous trailers, however, new art from the show has treated fans to new looks at the characters.

WHAT DOES THIS TELL US ABOUT THE STORY?

The new art bears a lot of similarities to past posters for the upcoming series. However, it's always exciting to see new looks at this show, especially as it continues to churn out such beautiful artwork.

When Baron Zemo debuted in Captain America: Civil War to tear apart the Avengers, it provided a much less traditional take on the character. The upcoming Disney+ series looks to take the character in a more comic-accurate direction with his classic comic look.

It's been a while since Sharon Carter last showed up in the MCU. The character hasn't been seen since her relationship with Steve Rogers was briefly teased in Captain America: Civil War, although it never went anywhere as the hero returned to the 1940s. Could Sam or Bucky potentially strike up a relationship with the former CIA agent?

Additionally, Carter is shown to be wearing a hood in the image shown. Recent merchandises have indicated the character will be on the run at some point in the series, potentially for her violations of the Sokovia Accords, or from one of the antagonistic forces of the new series.

The concluding moments of Avengers: Endgame confirmed Sam Wilson's Falcon is lined up to take on the Captain America mantle. However, it seems he'll be facing some competition for that role with U.S Agent. Falcon actor Anthony Mackie has previously described Wilson taking up the iconic shield as a “huge moment,” meaning the hero is sure to come out on top by the time the series ends.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will debut on March 19, exclusively on Disney+.
