New Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Trailer Delivers Action-Packed Gameplay

With Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice LeagueGotham Knights, and a newly revealed Wonder Woman title from Monolithic Studios on the way, DC continues to increase its presence in the gaming world. As a whole, superhero video games have seen a grand resurgence in recent years as Marvel also lines up Spider-Man 2Wolverine, and Midnight Suns to release over the next few years from AAA developers.

This resurgence can arguably be attributed to the great success and critical reclaim of Rocksteady Studios' Batman franchise. After concluding its legendary series with Arkham Knight in 2015, the studio finally revealed its next project to the world at DC FanDome with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Rocksteady's third-person co-op action-adventure title will feature Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot taking on a possessed Justice League under the orders of Amanda Waller while Brainiac invades Earth from above.

With the Arkham successor set for release on PC and next-gen consoles in 2022, Rocksteady has finally revealed the first gameplay featuring the entire squad in action.

Suicide Squad vs Flash in New Gameplay

During The Game Awards, Rocksteady Studios revealed the first gameplay from Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League featuring Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot taking on a Brainiac-possessed Flash.

After opening with Captain Boomerang recording a video message teasing The Flash, calling him the Justice League's mascot, the trailer quickly cuts to an action-packed showcase of the entire Suicide Squad's unique abilities.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's gameplay premiere also offers the best look yet at The Flash's new costume as he is possessed by Brainiac and the villainous team is sent by Amanda Waller to take him out.

The gameplay can be seen below:

The Suicide Squad's Varied Gameplay

If the newly-released gameplay premiere makes one thing clear, it's that each member of the Suicide Squad will play totally different from each other with unique abilities, weaponry, gadgets, and movement styles.

Each member of the squad has their own movement styles, Deadshot will navigate the skies with his jetpack, Captain Boomerang seems to be able to teleport, Harley Quinn is extremely acrobatic, and King Shark can jump between buildings in a single bound.

While different villains will of course pack a unique arsenal of abilities, much of the gameplay appears to revolve around third-person shooter combat as each character carries different weapons from King Shark's minigun to Deadshot's sniper rifle.

After receiving minimal news on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League over the last year, some may be surprised to hear Rocksteady's latest venture will be holding onto its original 2022 release date. With WB Montreal also having the Bat Family-centric Gotham Knights game lined up for next year, it ought to be a busy year for DC gamers.

As of now, Gotham Knights is expected to be the earlier-releasing DC title meaning it may be close to a year before fans get their hands on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases in 2022 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
