Developer Play First Games will soon deliver a resurgence of the fighting game genre with its free-to-play crossover epic MultiVersus. The blockbuster experience will bring together heroes and villains from across the Warner Bros. Multiverse to face off in classic fighter style. MultiVersus' roster already includes DC's Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Harley Quinn, along with characters from Game of Thrones, Scooby-Doo, and more.

The 2022 launch is just the beginning for the free-to-play fighter as more characters and maps will be added after launch on top of the usual stream of cosmetic additions. MultiVersus is only days away from beginning its closed alpha testing on May 19, which will allow players to get hands-on with the game for a few days as the build-up to release continues.

Batman has already proven central to MultiVersus' marketing as he was previously shown fighting Bugs Bunny. The Dark Knight has now faced off against the iconic cartoon rabbit once again, but this time both have got some help from two other iconic characters.

The trailer also features Harley Quinn, Superman, and many other Warner Bros.-owned characters who will be playable in the upcoming free-to-play title. The Tazmanian Devil can be seen cozying up with Harley Quinn in one moment of the trailer, with Jerry from Tom and Jerry also making an appearance

Batman and Shaggy end up tussling with the combined forces of Arya Stark and Bugs Bunny on one of the rabbit's cartoonish rockets.

The Ultimate Gaming Crossover

This isn't the first time The Dark Knight has teamed up with the famous mystery-solving gang, as their worlds collided for the 2018 animated film Scooby-Doo & Batman: The Brave and the Bold. But still, who would have thought Batman and Shaggy would be able to team up against Bugs Bunny and Arya Stark in any official capacity.

Warner Bros. has among the largest libraries of characters available, meaning the sky is the limit for MultiVersus. Confirmed franchises already include DC, Game of ThronesScooby-DooAdventure Time, and many more - but Harry Potter remains notably absent, reportedly due to complicated licensing issues.

The roster of heroes and villains ought to continue to grow in the run-up to release, but that's just the beginning. MultiVersus appears to be planning for a long period of post-launch support with new unlockable characters, maps, modes, cosmetics, and more; the developers have already made it clear that no character is off the table for this game.

MultiVersus will enter open beta in July on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
